About this App
A channel owner switched on content protection, and now you can't forward or save the file, lecture or post you need. Save Restricted Content promises to fix exactly that: it pulls material out of channels, groups, bots and social media where copying is blocked. 🔑
Convenient, yes. But the price isn't money, it is access to your account, so let's go through it step by step.
How the bot gets around protection
Telegram's content protection works at the app level. The Forward and Save buttons are hidden, yet the messages themselves are still delivered to every account that belongs to the channel.
Bots of this kind sign in to the channel as your account, fetch the message and send it to you without the restriction. Public channels usually work without logging in. Private groups and private channels need a login.
The commands that matter
- /start and /help. Launch and a short guide.
- /login. Sign in to the bot with your Telegram account, using your phone number and confirmation code.
- /session. Sign in with a session string, a ready-made access key to your account.
- /logout. Sign out and disconnect your account from the bot.
Day to day it is simple. Once signed in, send a link to a post in a protected channel and the bot replies with its contents.
A session string is a master key
This is the part to take seriously. A session string or login code gives full control of your account: reading every chat, sending messages as you, changing settings. ⚠️
Whoever runs the bot can technically use that access, and there is no way to verify from outside what a given bot does with it. Even authors of open source versions of these bots admit the risk of a Telegram ban is low, not zero.
Ways to lower the risk
- Use a spare account. Create a second Telegram account with no personal chats and log in with that one only.
- Try without login. For a public channel, just send the link first and skip /login.
- Log out afterwards. Once you have what you need, send /logout right away.
- Check devices. In Settings, open Devices and end the bot's session if it is still there.
- Turn on two step verification. A cloud password makes it much harder for anyone to take over the account.
Is it legal?
Creators turn on protection deliberately. Most often it guards paid courses, private clubs and original work. Getting around it goes against the owner's wishes, and sharing someone's paid content infringes their copyright. 📚
The clear-cut cases are saving your own material from your own channel, or a file the creator has allowed you to download. For anything else, the honest route is to ask the owner for access to the original.
