Userinfo: get any Telegram ID fast

About this App

You are setting up a bot, connecting notifications or granting access to a service, and the form asks for your Telegram ID. A username won't do, it wants the number. Userinfo gives it to you in a second: forward a message, get the answer. 👤

Usernames change, IDs don't

Every Telegram account, bot, group and channel has a permanent numeric identifier. A username can be changed or removed at any time, but the ID stays with the account for good.

That is why bots, payment tools, CRMs and mailing systems store IDs. If you enter a username in some settings and later change it, the link breaks. An ID never has that problem.

What the bot can identify

  • Your own ID. The /info command shows your account details, including the number.
  • Someone else's ID. Forward any message they sent.
  • A bot's ID. Forward a message from that bot.
  • A channel's ID. Forward a post from the channel.
  • A group's ID. Forward a message sent on behalf of the group, or follow the tips in /help.
  • ID by username. Send a username and the bot looks up the number.

Reading the result

Different kinds of chats get different looking numbers, and that is expected. 🔢

  • Users and bots. A positive number, usually 9 to 10 digits.
  • Basic groups. A negative number with a minus sign in front.
  • Channels and supergroups. A negative number starting with -100.

A lot of bot setup errors come from a dropped minus sign or a missing -100 prefix. Copy the ID exactly as the bot shows it.

When an ID stays hidden

If someone has turned on the privacy setting that stops forwarded messages from linking to their account, their ID can't be read from a forward. Telegram shows only a name with no link to the profile. 🔒

That is privacy protection, not a bug. Ask the person to start the bot themselves and send you what /info returns.

Step by step

  1. Start. Tap Open and send /start.
  2. Your ID. Send /info and copy the number from the reply.
  3. Another ID. Long press a message from the person or channel, choose Forward and send it to the bot.
  4. Done. Copy the ID and paste it wherever it is needed.

If something misbehaves, /feedback sends a note to the bot's admins.

Can someone harm you with your ID?

An ID on its own reveals almost nothing. Nobody can read your chats or log in with it. It is simply a number that every bot you talk to already sees.

The developers say no registration is required and that data is not stored or shared with third parties. Common sense still applies: don't publish lists of member IDs from private chats or use them for spam. ✅

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Userinfo cost?▼
It is free and needs no sign-up. Tap Open, send /start, then forward a message or send a username.
How do I get a group or channel ID?▼
Forward a post from the channel, or a message sent on behalf of the group. Channel and supergroup IDs start with -100, so copy the whole thing including the minus.
Why can't the bot show someone's ID?▼
They have probably turned off account linking for forwarded messages in privacy settings. Ask them to start the bot themselves and send you the /info result.
Is it dangerous if someone knows my ID?▼
No. An ID can't be used to log in or read your chats, and every bot you use already sees it. What you must protect is your login code and cloud password.
