UNO Bot 2: deal the cards in your group chat

The group chat has gone quiet and nobody can meet up tonight. UNO Bot 2 deals a deck right into your Telegram group, so friends join with one command and throw cards without leaving the conversation. 🃏

It runs on a long-standing open-source UNO bot that hundreds of groups use. This copy lives on a separate server as a backup for when the main bot gets slow. Around 89,000 people play through it every month.

Your first match in a minute

1. Add UNO Bot 2 to a group.
2. Send /new to open a lobby.
3. Everyone who wants in sends /join.
4. Once at least two players are in, the host sends /start.
5. On your turn, tap the card button. Your hand pops up, and one tap sends the chosen card to the chat.

Cards are played through inline mode. Only you see your hand, while everyone else sees the card that hits the table.

Pick a pace

The /modes command explains each mode in detail. The short version:

• Classic. Standard deck, no rush.
• Fast. Same deck, but the bot skips anyone who takes too long.
• Wild. More action cards in the deck and much messier games.
• Text. Cards are shown as text instead of images, which helps on a weak connection.

Rules nobody argues about here

Get rid of all your cards first. Match the top card by color or number, or draw from the deck. The bot enforces the rules itself, so no more heated debates over whether that +4 was legal.

Running the table

The player who created the game controls the lobby. /close locks it, /open lets people in again, and /kick removes someone who wandered off. If a player freezes, /skip moves the turn along, and /kill ends the match.

Need to go? Send /leave and the game carries on without you. Useful when a match runs past midnight. 🌙

Small touches

• Languages. Choose the interface language in /settings.
• Mixed-language groups. /enable_translations shows bot messages in several languages at once.
• Game alerts. /notify_me sends you a private message when a new game starts in the group.
• Stats. /stats shows how many games you played and won.

When it acts up

Cards not showing when you tap? Update Telegram, since older versions handle inline mode badly. Closing and reopening the chat also fixes it more often than you would expect.

Bot silent after /new? It probably cannot read group messages. Make it an admin or turn off bot privacy mode in the group settings. There is nothing to buy and no payments inside. 🎉
