My ID Bot for Telegram

Mini App • Handy Tools

About this App

Someone sent you a guide: paste your Telegram ID into the settings. You open your profile, look for that number and cannot find it, because the numeric identifier is not shown anywhere in the Telegram app itself. That is why ID bots exist, and My ID is one of them 🪪

The bot's description is short: send any message and you get your ID back. Nothing to configure.

Getting your number

  1. Open the bot and tap Start.
  2. Send any message. A dot or the word hello will do.
  3. Copy the number from the reply and paste it where it was requested.

The whole thing takes under a minute. The bot does not ask for a phone number, SMS codes or passwords, and if it ever does, close the chat.

What a Telegram ID is

It is the permanent numeric identifier of your account. You can change your name and your username, but the number stays the same. Programs use it to know exactly who they are talking to.

You need the ID when you set up your own bots, connect notifications, bind yourself to services with restricted access, name an administrator or send messages from a script. Every channel and group has an ID of its own too, and it usually starts with a minus sign.

Is it safe to share your ID

An ID alone gives no access to your account. It cannot be used to read your messages or sign in to your profile. Still, there is no reason to post it everywhere: the number makes it easier to find you in bots and to link your accounts across services.

  • Give your ID to people you trust: the developer of your bot or the admin of your team.
  • Never send an SMS code, a two-step verification password or a seed phrase. None of them is needed for an ID.
  • Get suspicious when a stranger asks for your ID to verify a prize or to credit a payout. That is a common opening for scams 🛑

What to know about this bot

The bot is tiny: its audience counts in single digits, and the profile points to the author's channel. For a service that replies with one number that is fine, but it gives no special guarantees. Enter nothing in it except a greeting.

The bot has one job: show the ID of your account. A single message is enough for that 🙂

When it comes in handy

An ID is usually requested in two situations: when you own a bot that needs to know whom to write to, and when you connect a service with restricted access. An ordinary user rarely needs the number, but when it is needed, searching the settings is pointless.

Save your ID in your notes. It never changes, so you will not have to ask the bot again, and you save a minute at the next setup.

  • You are setting up your own bot and need to say who it should write to.
  • A service asks for your ID to link a profile.
  • You are contacting support and want to attach your details.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my Telegram ID with My ID?▼
Open the bot, tap Start and send any message. The reply contains your numeric ID, which you can copy and paste where needed.
Can someone hack my account with my ID?▼
No, an ID alone gives no access to an account. Still, do not publish it without need or send it to strangers, and never enter SMS codes or passwords into any bot.
Does the ID change if I change my name or username?▼
No. You can change your name and username as often as you like, and the numeric account ID stays the same. That is why programs bind services to it.
The bot asks for my phone number or a code. What now?▼
Close the chat. An ID bot needs only your message to reply and has no use for a phone number or SMS codes. Asking for them is a sign of fraud.
