About this App
Results day for Ethiopia's national exam follows the same script every year: hundreds of thousands of students hit the results website at once, and it slows to a crawl. EAES Results Bot moves the lookup into Telegram, which keeps working on a weak mobile connection. 📱
The bot is run by EAES, the Educational Assessment and Examination Service, the government body that sets and grades national exams in Ethiopia. Older guides call it NEAEA, its previous name.
Who opens it on results day
Mostly students who sat the ESSLCE, the Ethiopian Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination taken after Grade 12. Those scores decide university placement, so families watch the announcement closely.
Parents and teachers use it too, often checking results on behalf of students without a phone. The bot handles hundreds of thousands of monthly users, with huge spikes on announcement days.
From /start to your score
- Find the bot in Telegram search and tap Start (the /start command).
- Share your contact if asked. This is how the bot registers you.
- Pick your region if that step appears.
- Type your registration number (admission number) for the exam.
- Enter your first name as it appears on your registration and send it.
The result usually arrives within seconds. Under heavy load it can take longer, and spamming the same request will not speed it up. ⏳
Backup routes if the bot is slow
The Telegram bot is one of three official channels. Knowing the others saves stress when the network is jammed:
- The EAES results website. Same registration number and first name, in a browser. Expect slowdowns in the first hours.
- SMS to 6284. Send the letter R followed by your registration number with no space, for example R1234567. Standard Ethio Telecom SMS charges apply.
- This bot. The lightest option on data, handy on a poor connection.
Through the portal and the bot you can also download a temporary certificate with your results, useful until the official document is issued.
Fake result bots are everywhere
Every exam season brings unofficial sites and bots promising early or corrected scores. They harvest personal data, push ads or ask for payment. ⚠️
- Check the username against the one published by EAES itself.
- Never pay to see your score. The official bot is free.
- Never send passwords, SMS codes or card details to anyone claiming to speed things up.
When the number looks wrong
Complaints about results are filed online through the official EAES portal, so there is no need to travel to the head office in Addis Ababa. The appeal window is announced along with the results, and it is short.
Tip: take a screenshot of the bot's reply and keep your registration number written down. You will need both for an appeal and for university applications. 🎓
