AnyComBot for channel comments

About this App

You run a channel, and readers want to push back, ask a question or just say thanks. But under the post there is nothing, because discussion is not connected. AnyComBot fills that gap: the bot puts comment and share buttons under your posts. 💬

There is a reader side too. If you have a message from someone else's public channel, the bot can open a discussion for it.

One bot, two roles

The first role is for channel owners. Add the bot as an admin to a public channel, and new posts get share and comment buttons. After that there is nothing to configure.

The second role is for ordinary readers. Forward a post from any public channel to the bot, and it replies with a link to the comments page for that post.

  • Admin mode: the bot is an administrator, buttons appear under new posts.
  • Reader mode: a forwarded post turns into a link to the discussion.
  • Limit: the channel has to be public, because a private channel has no address to point to.

Hooking it up to your channel

  1. Open your channel settings and go to the list of administrators.
  2. Add AnyComBot by searching for its name in Telegram.
  3. Leave the bot only the rights it needs to work with posts.
  4. Publish a test post and check that the buttons show up under it.

If the buttons are missing, make sure the channel is really public and the bot is still on the admin list. Forwarded posts do not get buttons, so test with an original post. 🔧

Why a channel wants comments at all

Comments turn a shop window into a conversation. A reader with something to say stays in the channel instead of drifting off to private messages or other chats. For the author it is free feedback: you see which topics landed and which fell flat.

The share button pulls the same way. One tap and the post goes to a friend or a group. The easier it is to share, the more often people do it.

What Telegram does on its own now

A bit of context helps here. Telegram has built-in comments: you link a discussion group to the channel, and a button to the thread appears under each post. For many channels that is enough and no third-party bot is needed.

The bot still makes sense if you want simple buttons under posts without managing a separate group, or if you need a discussion link for someone else's public post. Try both on a test channel and keep the one you like.

Check this before you switch it on

  • Admin rights. Grant the minimum. The bot should not get channel controls it has no use for.
  • Moderation. Wherever comments are open, spam and links to shady sites follow. Decide in advance who cleans them up and how.
  • Visibility. Comments are open to anyone who can see the post. Keep personal details out of them.
  • Dry run. Connect the bot to a test channel first, and to the main one only after that.

If you stop using the bot, remove it from the admin list. An unused admin in your channel is extra risk. 🛡️

Who it fits

Authors of small public channels who want comments and reposts without heavy setup. Admins who would like to try a different approach than a linked discussion group. Readers who found an interesting post and want to leave an opinion through a link.

If your channel is private, or you need strict moderation, anti-spam and detailed statistics, look at community management tools instead. For buttons and a discussion link, this bot's feature set is enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect AnyComBot to my channel?▼
Make the channel public, open the administrator list and add the bot. Limit its rights to what it needs. New posts will then get comment and share buttons. Publish a test post to confirm.
Does the bot work with private channels?▼
No, it is built for public channels. The discussion link is based on the public address of a post, and a private channel has no such address.
Can I comment on other people's channels?▼
Yes, on public ones. Forward a message from that channel to the bot, and it sends back a link to the comments page for the post. Comments are visible to everyone, so keep personal details out of them.
Do I need the bot if Telegram has its own comments?▼
Not always. Built-in comments work through a linked discussion group and suit most channels. The bot is handy when you want simple buttons under posts without a separate group, or a discussion link for someone else's post.
