What the bot does

Why digital goods are sold for Stars

Telegram launched Stars in June 2024. Since then, digital goods and services in bots and Mini Apps can only be sold for Stars, as required by Telegram's rules and by Apple and Google.

Buyers pay in one tap with no card details. They buy Stars in the app through the App Store or Google Play, where the price includes the store's 30% commission. Buying on Fragment costs less.

How much reaches the seller 💰

Telegram values each earned Star at 0.013 USD when you cash out. A thousand Stars from buyers turns into about 13 dollars, even though the buyer paid roughly 20 for them in an app store.

• Hold of up to 21 days. Each payment becomes withdrawable on its own clock, up to 21 days after it arrives.
• 1,000 Star minimum. Smaller balances cannot be withdrawn and simply wait.
• Ads beat cash. Spent on Telegram ads, each Star counts as 0.02 USD.
• Shelf life. Earned Stars stay valid for 3 years, then expire.

From Stars to your bank card

1. Fragment. Telegram's official payout runs through the Fragment platform: connect a TON wallet and confirm the withdrawal.
2. Conversion. Fragment converts the dollar amount into the TON network coin at the current rate. Since June 2026 that coin is called Gram (GRAM).
3. Exchange. From there you swap the coins into your currency through an exchange, which has its own fees and checks.

In some countries Fragment cannot pay out rewards for regulatory reasons. Check this early if you plan to sell at scale 🌍

What to agree on before you start

Stars paid against an invoice land on the balance of the bot that issued it. Ask the service how and when it passes revenue on to you, what it charges and how refunds are handled.

• Refunds. Telegram's rules make the seller responsible for disputes, and a full refund is deducted from the balance.
• Test small. Run modest amounts through the bot for the first few weeks and reconcile every payment.
• Your own bot as plan B. Telegram's Bot API accepts Stars directly once you have a developer on board.
