About this App
With twenty friends in a chat, order keeps itself. With a few thousand members you get spammers, bot raids and endless arguments. GRIZZLY steps in as moderator: it bans, issues warnings, greets newcomers and blocks waves of fake accounts. 🐻
It is a Russian-language chat manager used by about 50,000 people a month. Commands are Russian words starting with a dot, so this is mainly for Russian-speaking communities.
The first five minutes
- Add the bot to your group and make it an admin, or it cannot ban or delete messages.
- Send /start in a private chat with the bot. Full access requires a quick registration.
- Open /chats to manage your groups, or /menu for the main menu.
- Set the rules with the rules command plus your text, formatting supported.
- Set a greeting with the greeting command, using {name} and {nick} variables for newcomers. 👋
The hierarchy
Permissions are split into levels, which helps in big communities.
- Chat owner. Appoints admins, raises and lowers ranks, renames the chat, toggles plugins and controls the adult content filter.
- Admins. No limit on how many. They ban, warn and set up captcha and rules.
- Members. Can, for example, upvote the chat.
There is also a rescue command, amnesty, which lifts every ban at once if moderation went too far.
Discipline without drama
- Warn with a reason, a good first step.
- Remove a warn when someone behaves.
- Ban a member, or ban and delete their message in one go.
- Unban to restore access.
A tip from experience: publish your rules and warning system up front. When members know three warnings lead to a ban, arguments with moderators drop noticeably.
A shield against raids
A raid is when dozens of bots or fake accounts flood a chat with spam within minutes. The captcha panel makes newcomers pass a check before posting. Humans need seconds, bots get filtered out. 🛡️
If random guests keep dropping harmful ads, captcha stops most of it at the door.
Finding every command
The full list, including mutes, anti-spam and plugins, lives in the official reference and guide channel linked in the bot profile, along with news and a chat where admins help each other.
One caveat: unofficial wikis sometimes list commands for other versions of the bot. If a command does not work, check the current reference.
Who it suits
Admins of Russian-speaking groups with a hundred or more members who need a clear discipline system and spam protection, owners who want to share moderation while keeping control, and anyone who prefers native-language commands. 💬
