HAIMDALL: Scam Checks for Telegram

Bot • Moderation & Anti-Spam

About this App

Someone calls themselves an admin and asks you to send coins to verify your wallet. Is that real? Forward the message to this bot and it tells you who you are dealing with. That is the main idea of HAIMDALL, the AmaZix Moderation Bot, for protection against scammers in Telegram.

It was built by the blockchain advisory firm AmaZix and launched in July 2019.

What the bot does

It is simple: you forward it a user's message, and it checks whether that person is a scammer. It cannot chat with you like a person. It is a verification tool.

For help from a human or for the Premium plan, contact the project team using the details in the bot's profile.

How the blacklist works

The company described the scheme this way. If a user posts malicious content in one of the monitored groups, he is automatically banned from all AmaZix groups and added to a shared blacklist.

At launch the team said that among more than 730,000 users across over 140 groups, more than 54,500 people, about 7.5 percent, were banned for attempted crypto scams.

Checking a supposed admin

Fake admins are a favorite scammer trick: the avatar and name copy a real admin. The bot keeps a list of real administrators of AmaZix groups, so in those groups it can confirm or refute someone's status.

  1. Do not reply to a private message from an admin and do not open its links.
  2. Forward that message to the bot.
  3. Read the answer and only then decide what to do.

If you were listed by mistake

The team said mistakes can be appealed: contact them, and the case gets reviewed. If appropriate, you are removed from the list.

What to expect from a tool like this

A blacklist is no cure-all. Known cases are checked, and a brand new scammer is not in the database yet. So the bot is a helper, not a guarantee.

  • Do not rush: urgency is the scammers' main lever.
  • Never share a seed phrase, even with support.
  • Never send coins for verification or activation.
  • Admins do not message first. That is usually a scam.

Who will find it useful

Members of crypto chats, community admins and anyone who gets suspicious private messages. 🛡️

If you run a large chat, note that the project also offers paid options with a demo. Confirm the terms with the team before connecting.
