About this App
Counting calories by hand is tedious: weigh, look up the food, add it up. That is why most people quit within a week. Calories by Photo AI cuts it down to one step: photograph your plate, and the bot sends back calories, protein, fat and carbs. 📸
It works inside Telegram and understands photos, voice notes and text. The first 5 requests are free, then a subscription is needed, which the project's site lists from 290 rubles a month. The interface is in Russian.
Three ways to log a meal
- Photo. Snap the dish and the AI identifies foods and estimates weight.
- Voice. Say "oatmeal with milk, a banana and coffee with sugar" and it calculates. 🎤
- Text. Describe the dish if a photo is not handy.
Portion wrong? Fix it by voice: "it was 200 grams, not 150". The developers say the AI was trained on more than 100,000 food photos.
A daily total
The bot adds everything up. /food shows today's log, /profile opens your profile and /subscribe handles the subscription. You can chat with it like a person, asking questions and adding details.
How accurate is photo counting
Every photo-based AI estimate has limits:
- Hidden calories. Oil in the pan, sugar in sauces and mayo inside a salad are invisible.
- Eyeballed weight. The AI estimates portions from the image, and a 20-30% miss is possible.
- Lookalike dishes. A chicken patty and a pork patty look the same but differ in calories.
For everyday tracking this is usually enough. If you need precision, such as a medically prescribed diet, weigh food and correct the weight by voice. ⚖️
Getting more accurate numbers
- Shoot from above in good light so everything is visible.
- Put a fork or your hand nearby for scale.
- Add details by voice: "fried in oil", "sour cream sauce".
- Count drinks. Juice, lattes and soda add hundreds of calories.
- Log right away. By evening you will forget the snack.
Sticking with it
Rough daily logging beats perfect logging once a week. Watch the weekly trend rather than single days, and pick a realistic goal, since a harsh deficit burns you out fast.
Who it is for
People losing or gaining weight who are tired of manual tables, athletes tracking protein, and anyone curious how much they really eat in a day. 🥗
An important reminder
The bot is a tracking tool, not a doctor. With medical conditions, pregnancy, eating disorders or sudden weight changes, discuss your nutrition plan with a professional.
