About this App
"So when are we meeting?" In a group chat that question can live for weeks: someone is free on Saturday, someone only on Wednesday, and the thread scrolls away. DayFinder fixes it with one poll. 📅
The bot creates a poll where participants mark which dates work for them. The open-source project was written by developer Falko Galperin, and the public version runs right inside Telegram.
A poll in four steps
- Send the bot /start or tap the button to create a new poll.
- A mini app opens: enter a title, an optional description and the candidate dates.
- Press the button that creates the poll.
- The bot sends back a voting link. Forward it to your chat.
You can also send polls through inline mode: type the bot's name in the message field of any chat.
Yes, no, maybe
Each participant opens the link and picks one of three answers for every date: Yes, No or Maybe. That beats a plain vote because it shows not only favorite days but compromise ones too.
Changed your mind? Open the link again and vote anew: the new answer replaces the old one.
Who said what
The results page shows how many votes each date collected. You can reach it from the voting page, from your poll list with /polls, or through inline mode.
- Anonymous poll: the creator cannot see who voted for which dates.
- Regular poll: participant names are visible, and clicking a name shows when that person voted.
- Notifications: you can get a message whenever someone votes.
The Expand all option opens every voter's name at once. 👀
Commands
- /start creates a new poll.
- /polls lists your polls.
- /help opens the help.
You can delete a poll you no longer need straight from its results page.
How to write a poll that closes fast
Do not offer thirty dates at once: people tire and stop answering. Pick five to ten realistic options in the coming weeks.
In the description, state the length of the event and the start time. The clearer the conditions, the fewer questions in the chat. And set a deadline right away: "vote by Friday". ⏰
Open code and your own server
The project is released under the MIT license. If you prefer not to trust a shared bot with your data, the code can be deployed on your own server: you need Python, a domain with a certificate and your own bot.
For ordinary meetups with friends the public version is enough. Do not put addresses, phone numbers or other personal data into a poll description. 🔒
