About this App
A stranger in a chat offers a great deal, and you wonder whether they signed up yesterday. Telegram does not show account age, but DateReg can estimate it from the numeric ID. 🔎
The bot calls itself the best way to find an account's creation date by ID, and it works in Russian and English.
What DateReg does
You send an ID and the bot replies with a registration date. Its description mentions a carefully assembled data set behind the result.
There is also an option for developers: the bot offers to plug its service into your project at modest prices. The /api command covers that.
Commands
- /start restarts the bot.
- /api shows how to connect the service to a project.
Getting the ID and the date
- Find the numeric ID of the user, for example from a chat message or a suitable lookup tool.
- Open DateReg and press /start.
- Send the ID to the bot as a message.
- Read the date and compare it with what you know about the account.
How far to trust the date
Telegram does not publish account creation dates. Any bot shows an estimate, not an official timestamp.
Errors happen. On Telegram's bug tracker, users have reported bots that showed a date much later than the real one. Treat the result as a guide. ⚖️
How is such an estimate even possible? Telegram issues numeric IDs in sequence, so later accounts generally get larger numbers. Bots match a number against known reference points and work out an approximate period.
That is also where the error comes from: between reference points the date is interpolated. The denser the data set, the closer the result.
Where it helps
- Chat moderation: a fresh account pushing ads raises more questions.
- Vetting a seller: profile age is one signal, not proof of honesty.
- Curiosity: see how old your own account is.
Do not jump to conclusions
A new account is not automatically a scammer, and an old one is not automatically honest. Old accounts get sold and hacked.
Look at a mix of signs: message history, shared chats, reviews, behavior. Registration date is just one piece. 🧩
Privacy
An ID reveals nothing beyond a number in the system, but do not collect data on people without a reason. Check accounts for safety, not surveillance, and remember that many countries have rules on processing personal data.
If you run a chat, write down the rules and warn members that new accounts may get extra checks.
