You remember the plot, maybe half the title, and no author at all. Or a friend asks what to read next and you want to answer with a real title, not a vague "that blue book".
Google Books Searcher Bot looks up books right inside Telegram, so there is no browser tab to open.
You send a title and get matching editions back. The developer says it searches millions of books in seconds. 📚
Three ways to ask about a book
The bot covers the situations where people actually talk about books.
- Private chat. Type a title, a part of it or an author's surname and read the results.
- Inline mode. In any conversation, type the bot's name followed by your query. The result goes straight into the chat with your friend.
- Groups. The /book command runs a search in a group, so a book club discussion keeps its flow.
Inline mode helps most when the conversation is already about a book. You do not copy a title and paste it somewhere else. 🔍
The command menu, in one minute
The list is short, and that is a good thing.
- /start restarts the bot and asks you to pick a language.
- /help explains the basics.
- /language changes the interface language at any time.
- /statistics shows the bot's statistics.
- /book is the search command for groups.
The language choice on first launch tells you the bot is built for readers in several countries rather than one audience.
Search habits that save time
A book catalog rewards precision but forgives gaps. If your first try returns nothing useful, work through these steps.
- Start with the most distinctive word of the title instead of the full phrase.
- Add the author's surname when many titles share similar words.
- Try the original title for translated works. One book often has several translated titles.
- Check spelling. Diacritics, hyphens and transliteration can throw a search off.
When you find the book, look at the year and the publisher. Classics have dozens of reprints with the same story inside, but the translation, notes and layout can differ a lot. 📖
Finding a book is not the same as getting it
A book catalog shows details about editions: title, author, description, sometimes a cover. It is a reference, not automatically a place to download the text for free.
If you want the full book, go to legal sources: bookstores, libraries, e-book services and authors' official pages. Many older works are in the public domain and open to everyone, while recent releases are usually sold or lent by libraries. Buying or borrowing also supports the author and spares you a suspicious file with malware.
Who will use it
- Readers who keep a "read later" list and want to check a title and author quickly.
- Students who need the publication details of an edition for a bibliography.
- Book chat members who keep hearing titles and asking what the book is about.
- Gift shoppers who want to be sure they have the right book.
Good to know before you start
The bot is listed as a Mini App and, according to Telegram, has about 13 thousand monthly users. The service has its own website, but it may load unreliably, so the main way to use it stays inside Telegram.
Results depend on how a book is described in the catalog. Rare or very new editions can be harder to find than popular ones. For advertising and partnerships the developer gives a separate contact in the bot's profile. 🤝
