You have the movie but no subtitles. Or you have them, and they run five seconds ahead and ruin the evening. Get Subtitle Bot handles the hunt: send a title and the bot sends back a subtitle file. 🎬
According to its description, the bot provides subtitles for movies and series. It runs as a Mini App inside Telegram, so there is nothing to install.
Title in, file out
The routine is short. You say what you are watching, the bot looks for a suitable file and posts it in the chat.
- Press start. The chat with the bot opens.
- Send the title. Use the original language and the release year, which avoids mix-ups with remakes.
- Take the file. Download it and put it next to the video.
For series, name the season and episode. Each episode has its own file.
When nothing turns up
The bot is upfront about this: if your subtitle is not in its base, try again after about 47 hours. That is common for fresh releases, since subtitles for new titles take a while to appear.
While you wait, check the spelling, the year and the language. Often the problem is a typo or a localized title the bot does not know, not a gap in the library.
Getting the file to work in your player
Subtitles usually arrive as SRT. That format opens in almost any desktop or mobile player.
- File name. Rename it to match the video, changing only the extension. Many players pick it up automatically.
- Manual loading. Look for the add-subtitles option in the player menu and choose the file.
- Time shift. If lines do not match the speech, the player settings let you move them by a few seconds.
- Encoding. If you see strange symbols instead of letters, switch the encoding to UTF-8.
Why versions do not always match
One film comes out in many releases: different frame rates, trimmed intro logos, separate cuts. Subtitles are timed for a specific release.
A file that fits one copy perfectly may drift on another. A small offset is fixed by shifting in the player. If the gap grows toward the end, you need a different subtitle version.
Learn a language from films
These files help beyond plain viewing. Subtitles in the original language train your ear and grow your vocabulary: you hear a phrase and see how it is spelled.
Try watching with original-language subtitles and jotting down unfamiliar words. One episode a day is enough. 📚
Before you use it
The bot only hands out files with the lines of dialogue, so getting the film itself legally is on you. Check each file before opening it: the extension should be a familiar subtitle type such as SRT. Skip executables and archives with suspicious names.
The bot has a /privacy command with its privacy policy. Read it if you wonder what data is collected.
