RemoveBGBot: Photos Without Background

You need to cut a person or a product out of a shot, and opening a photo editor feels like too much. RemoveBGBot does it inside the messenger: send a photo, get the picture back without its background. ✂️

Its description calls it a wrapper that brings a third-party background-removal service into Telegram. The code is open under the GPLv3 license, and the author is listed as a developer going by SpEcHlDe.

What happens behind the chat

The bot does not draw a mask on your picture itself. It takes the photo, sends it for processing through an outside service's API and returns the result to you.

That means the quality of the cutout depends on the outside service, not the bot. The bot only makes that service reachable from a chat.

Three commands you get

• /donate. Voluntary support: the author asks for help to keep the bot alive.
• /info. Shows the credits left on your account. It works only for people who have connected their own key.
• /contribute. Lets you hand the bot your own API key so it uses your limits.

The key scheme is typical for open-source bots: free plans cap the processing, and a shared quota runs out fast.

Before you give away a key

An API key is access to your account at the third-party service. By passing it to someone else's bot you trust its owner and the server that stores the key.

• Create a separate key. You can delete it at any moment without touching your main account.
• Watch the usage. If credits suddenly vanish, revoke the key.
• Avoid a paid plan. A free one is enough for experiments.

Preparing a photo for a clean cutout

Any automatic background remover does better when the subject is clearly separated from what is behind it. A few simple habits give a tidier edge.

1. Contrasting background. A light object on a dark wall cuts out more cleanly than gray on gray.
2. Good light. Harsh shadows and glare confuse the algorithm.
3. High resolution. Fine details such as hair and fur need more pixels.
4. Send as a file. That keeps Telegram from compressing the shot.

Where the result is useful

A picture with no background fits product cards, avatars, covers, stickers and slides. Transparency survives in PNG, so save the result in that format.

A sticker also needs 512 pixels on the longer side, while a document accepts any size. 🖼️

Take care with personal pictures

Photos go to an external server. IDs, pictures of children, private chats and any shot that must not reach strangers are better handled in an app on your own device.
