Kigyō: Group Management Bot

Bot • Moderation & Anti-Spam

About this App

You start a group, and a week later it is full of casino ads, spam channels and arguments nobody is moderating. Doing it all by hand is exhausting. Kigyō takes over the routine so you can enjoy your community. 🛡️

Its profile calls it a next generation group management system. It helps admins moderate and adds a few fun extras to the chat.

Where it comes from

Kigyō is a modular Python bot with an SQLAlchemy database. The author conceived it in 2020, and the code is open source under the GPL-3.0 license.

It grew from a classic moderation bot and leaned into anime communities, but it works the same in any chat. The theme does not get in the way of serious moderation.

What it does in your group

The core toolkit will feel familiar if you have moderated a large chat:

  • Welcome and captcha. Newcomers get a check, and if they do not answer in time the bot mutes or removes them.
  • Spam control. Filters catch ads and restrict offenders.
  • Anti-channel mode. Messages sent on behalf of channels are banned right away.
  • Bans, mutes and warnings. The usual commands for keeping order.

It also has an inline mode: mention the bot in the message box to try its features without opening settings.

Setup in a few minutes

Send /start to see whether the bot is alive, and it answers right away. Then follow these steps.

  1. Add the bot to your group.
  2. Make it an admin with rights to delete messages and restrict members.
  3. Turn on the welcome captcha and the anti-channel mode.
  4. Test its reactions with a second account.

Without admin rights it cannot delete spam or ban anyone. That is the most common reason people think the bot is broken.

Heavy load and self-hosting

The bot has a big audience, and its creator has said the load pushed him to write a redesigned version from scratch. If you want full control, you can deploy the source code on your own server. The official support group only helps with the main instance, not with private forks.

Tips for admins

Every automod makes mistakes. Strict filters block real people, and loose ones let ads through. 🔍

  • Keep at least one human moderator for edge cases.
  • Pin your rules so a ban never comes as a surprise.
  • Give the bot only the permissions it needs.

A small chat needs only a captcha and a spam filter. A large one benefits from warnings and an action log. 🚀

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add Kigyō to my group?▼
Open the bot profile, tap the add to group option and pick your chat. Then promote it to admin with rights to delete messages and restrict members, or the protection will not work.
How can I check the bot is online?▼
Send /start. The bot replies right away when it is running. If it stays silent, check its admin rights and make sure it has not been removed or blocked in the group.
What if the bot blocks real people?▼
Loosen the filters and give newcomers more time for the captcha. Keep a human moderator around who can lift a mute by hand.
Can I run my own copy of the bot?▼
Yes, the source code is open under the GPL-3.0 license. You need Python, a database and your own bot token. The official support group only helps with the main instance.
