Chat Cleaner Bot for Group Admins

Bot • Moderation & Anti-Spam

About this App

You open your group in the morning and find two hundred messages: ads for other channels, a flood of stickers and links to anything under the sun. Moderating by hand takes forever, and Chat Cleaner Bot takes the routine off your plate. It automatically deletes what you decided not to allow in the chat. 🧹

The bot is meant for group administrators. A regular member does not need it, but its work is easy to notice: the chat becomes visibly cleaner.

What the bot can delete

The list in the bot's description is fairly long. Each item can be used on its own, depending on what bothers you in your chat.

  • Messages with links: to websites, social networks and other chats.
  • Media: stickers, documents, photos, video, audio and voice messages.
  • Forwarded channel posts: posts that members paste into the chat.
  • Flood: the default limit is three messages per second.
  • Bot commands: so they do not clutter the feed.

Connecting the bot to a group

  1. Add the bot to the group as a member.
  2. Make it an administrator.
  3. Turn on the right to delete messages: without it the bot can do nothing.
  4. Send /help to see the control commands.
  5. Choose which types of messages to delete.

Setup rules are described in detail in the /faq section, which also answers common questions about the bot. Links to project news are in its profile.

Which rules to choose

Do not switch everything on at once. If you ban all links and all media, the chat turns into a desert and members drift away. Start with ads and flood, then add more only when needed.

For a work chat, banning stickers and channel forwards fits well. For a community around a topic, keep photos and documents but remove links. 💡

Sample setups for three kinds of chats

  • Neighborhood or building chat: delete links and channel forwards to avoid ads.
  • Study group: keep documents and photos, remove flood and stickers during classes.
  • Gamer chat: allow stickers but limit flood and bot commands.

After a week, check whether the filter gets in the way of normal talk and adjust the rules.

Bot languages

The bot is translated into several languages: English, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Filipino and Uzbek. The authors invite help with translation, and the contact is in the description.

Limits worth knowing

  • The bot does not read minds: it reacts to message type and links, not meaning. Spam without links gets through.
  • It does not replace admins: your rules and live moderation remain.
  • Mistakes are possible: useful links may get deleted too, so warn your members.

The ethics of moderation

Pin the rules in a message. When people know that links get removed, they do not get upset about vanished posts.

Do not delete everything out of suspicion. A chat lives as long as it is pleasant to talk in. 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect Chat Cleaner Bot to a group?▼
Add the bot to your group and make it an administrator with the right to delete messages. Then send /help and pick what to clean: links, media, flood or bot commands.
What is the default flood limit?▼
By default the bot treats three messages per second as flood and removes them. If your chat is very active, check /faq to see whether the setting can be changed.
Can it delete links to other chats and sites?▼
Yes, this is one of its main functions: it removes messages with links to websites, social networks and invitations to other chats. Warn members in advance so they are not surprised by vanishing posts.
Is the bot paid?▼
All of the bot's help sits in the /help and /faq commands. Look there before connecting: if paid features exist, the terms are described there and the choice is yours.
