About this App
You need to highlight the key word in a message, but you cannot remember where the formatting menu hides in the app? Bold solves it in a couple of taps right in the input field. ✍️
This is an inline bot, also known as Markdown Bot. It makes text bold, italic or monospaced and sends the result to the chat.
Nothing to add anywhere
The bot works automatically. You do not need to add it to groups or channels: just open any conversation.
In the message field, type the bot name and your text. Style options appear, and you only pick the one you want.
Three styles to choose from
- Bold: for headings, dates, amounts and important words.
- Italic: for soft emphasis, titles and quotes.
- Monospace: for code, commands, numbers and anything handy to copy with a tap.
Sending in three steps
- Open any chat.
- Type the bot name and the text you need.
- Tap a style option and the message goes out.
Everything happens inside the dialog, so you do not switch between apps. 👍
When built-in formatting is enough
Telegram has its own menu: select text and choose a style. On desktop, shortcuts work: Ctrl+B for bold, Ctrl+I for italic and Ctrl+Shift+M for monospace, and on a Mac Cmd replaces Ctrl.
The bot helps where selecting is awkward: on a phone in a hurry, in chats where the menu misbehaves, or when you want a ready result with no extra steps.
How not to overdo styling
If everything is bold, nothing stands out. Keep bold for one or two words per message and italic for shades of meaning.
Monospace is good for command hints and code. But do not send real passwords in a chat, however neatly formatted. 🔒
Who benefits
- Chat admins: visible announcements and rules.
- Students and colleagues: emphasis in work notes.
- Developers: code snippets and commands.
What to remember about inline mode
Inline bots send the message in your name, but the text passes through the bot. Do not put personal data or secrets through it.
In some chats admins turn inline mode off. If options do not appear, check the chat settings or try in a private dialog.
A few practical examples. In an announcement for a chat, make the date and time bold and leave the place in plain text. In a study note, use italics to mark a term worth remembering.
If you share a terminal command, send it in monospace: you can copy the line with one tap, and the reader will not mix up quotes and spaces.
