Your group chat switches between three languages and you speak one. Or you need to answer a foreign client right now and the words will not come. Babelgram translates your messages inside the chat, with no app switching. 🌍

The bot works two ways: in inline mode in any conversation, and as an auto translator in group chats.

Translate on the fly

Inline mode is built into Telegram. In the message field you type the bot's name, the languages and your text, and the result shows up in the suggestions list. Tap it and the translation goes into the chat under your name.

If you are unsure how to phrase the request, the /inline command gives examples. The /languages command lists the supported languages. 🔤

Auto translate for a group

If you live in a multilingual conversation, calling the bot for every sentence gets old. Auto translate lets you write as usual while the bot translates your messages for everyone else.

The /autotranslation command explains the setup and shows how to switch the function on inside a group.

Limits and subscription

The bot keeps a translation counter. The /usage command shows what you spent and what remains. When the limit runs low, you can subscribe through /upgrade and remove the cap. 💳

Getting a translation that reads well

Machine translation copes well with everyday phrases and worse with jokes, slang and long winding sentences. A few habits improve the output. ✍️

Write short, complete sentences.
Skip idioms and wordplay, which get translated literally.
Read the result before sending anything important, if you know even the basics of the language.
For legal or medical texts, hire a human translator.

Before you start

The bot sees the messages you pass to it through inline mode or that arrive in a group with auto translate on, so do not run passwords, payment details or personal data through it. For private conversations, use inline mode selectively instead of turning on auto translate by default. 🔒
