You want to play Avalon, but getting everyone around one table never works out? Avalon Game Bot moves the game into a group chat. Add the bot to a group, type /start, and it runs the match itself: it hands out roles, collects votes and counts quest results.
The game is based on the tabletop Resistance: Avalon, where loyal players try to complete quests while hidden traitors sabotage them from inside. 🎭
How a match goes
It all happens in the shared chat, while the bot sends each person a role privately. After that comes what Avalon is played for: debates, suspicion and votes on the team.
- Add the bot to a group and type /start.
- Players join with /join.
- The bot deals roles and runs the rounds.
- Players vote on the team for each quest and discuss whom to trust.
The tabletop version is built for 5 to 10 players, so you need a group of friends for a match.
Normal and chaos games
The /start command begins a normal match, while /startchaos switches on chaos mode. For its exact rules, check the bot's help: /help and /howtoplay explain the basics to newcomers.
If a player drops out in the middle of a match, there is /flee. And /nextgame signs you up for the following game ahead of time.
When not everyone agrees
Forcing a start or a stop works by majority vote. The /forcestart command begins the game without waiting for others, and /forcestop proposes ending it.
This protects the group from accidental stops: one member cannot ruin a match for everyone else alone.
History and rankings
The bot keeps statistics: personal results, group totals and a global table.
- /history and /questhistory. Show how a game went: which quests passed and how they ended.
- /stats, /statsgroup, /statsglobal. Your results, your group's results and everyone's.
- /highscore. A ranking of top players.
- /setlang. Language choice. The project welcomes translations, and community members work on them.
Tips for first-timers
If an experienced player is in your group, play the first matches together on a voice call. It is easier to learn the rules and see how conversation flows.
Do not rush accusations. In Avalon the winner is usually the person who watches the votes closely and notices who backs odd teams.
Feedback
The /contact command is for feedback and questions, and /rateme lets you rate the project. News and support run in separate communities of the project.
This is a live game for several people, so agree on a time beforehand and gather at least five players.
