About this App
An ordinary evening, the group is quiet, and suddenly dozens of messages and new members appear within seconds. That is a storm: an organized raid that floods a group with spam to wreck it. Antistorm Bot is built to notice such raids and stop them. 🛡
Below is how it works, how to connect it and when it is not enough on its own.
What a storm is and why it hurts
A storm (or raid) is a mass attack on a chat: a stream of messages, forwards or joins. It pushes regular conversation out, scares members and can lead to people leaving the chat.
Cleaning up such an avalanche by hand is nearly impossible. Admins cannot keep up and moderators are often asleep. That is where an automatic helper comes in.
How Antistorm Bot works
The bot watches how fast events happen in the group. According to its developers, it reacts when too many actions occur within a couple of seconds: messages, forwards and joins are counted together.
- Normal mode. During a storm, messages from excess participants are deleted, while people who have long been in the group are not banned.
- Restrictive mode. The bot keeps deleting, restricting or banning offenders until things calm down. What exactly it does is your choice in the settings.
The bot was made by the CrystalSoft team, and its description is written in English and Italian. The interface language makes no difference in daily work. 🌍
Set up in three minutes
- Add the bot to your group as a member.
- Make it an admin. Without admin rights it does not work.
- Open settings with /antistorm.
- Pick a mode and the actions for a storm.
- Check permissions. It needs the right to delete messages and restrict members.
If the project uses extra helpers, add them only together with the main bot: alone they do nothing. ⚙️
What it cannot do
The platform has limits, so no single tool gives full protection. The bot cannot see messages from other bots, which means it will miss an attack carried out through them.
The developers advise turning off free adding of members to the group. That closes the most common route for a raid.
What to do besides the bot
- Turn on slow mode. It limits how often one person can post.
- Close joining by link. It is better to accept newcomers through requests.
- Appoint several moderators in different time zones.
- Keep a backup contact list. If the group has to be recreated, bringing members back is easier.
- Restrict newcomers. Let them skip links and media for the first while.
Which groups need it
Large open communities, chats with big audiences and groups that attract ill wishers. A small closed chat of friends has little need for it.
The more visible the group, the higher the chance of a raid. It is better to set up protection beforehand than after the first attack. 📌
