Message Info: Telegram Message Data Bot

Bot • Handy Tools

About this App

Need the ID of a message, chat or channel, only to find Telegram hides it so deep that you would have to be a developer to dig it out? Message Info does the digging: the bot tells you useful information about messages. 🔎

The idea is simple. You send the bot a message, it breaks it down and shows data you normally never see in the messenger interface.

Why peek inside a message

For everyday chatting you do not need this. But if you run a channel, admin a group or build your own bot, technical details become a working tool.

  • Bot setup. Many services need the numeric ID of a chat or channel to work.
  • Administration. Sometimes you must point to one exact message.
  • Curiosity. It is interesting to see how the thing you forward every day is built.

How to use it

Start the bot with /start and send it the message you want to learn about. It answers on its own.

  1. Press Start in the bot chat.
  2. Send or forward the message you want analyzed.
  3. Read the reply and copy the values you need.

/help shows hints, and /donate lets you support the authors: the command is described as buying the developers a coffee. It is voluntary. ☕

Why someone else's message keeps its secrets

Telegram protects privacy. If an author hid the link to their account when forwarding, the bot will see only a display name. Privacy settings cannot be bypassed, which is how it should be. 🔒

So do not expect people-lookup from a bot like this. It shows what Telegram itself passes to bots and nothing more. Collecting personal data about people is not its job.

Getting IDs right

IDs for private chats, groups and channels look different. Channel and supergroup IDs are usually negative and carry a special prefix, while private chat IDs are positive. Paste the wrong format and the external service you are configuring will not work.

Copy the whole number, minus sign included if there is one. One missing digit breaks everything.

How channel admins benefit

When you connect auto-posting, comments or third-party analytics, the service asks for your channel. Instead of a long search, forward any post to the bot and get the number in seconds. ⚙️

That saves time and cuts the chance of error, since you copy the value from the reply instead of retyping it.

Before you use it

The bot sees only what you send it. Do not forward messages with passwords, codes or payment details: you would not show such messages to strangers anyway. ⚠️

If all you need is an ID, forwarding a harmless channel post is enough.
