About this App
The group you need is buried among thousands of chats, and Telegram's built-in search does not find everything. Xunix bot offers its own search: by group name and by user name. The commands are simple, and /menu is a good start. 🔎
The bot is modest: its profile has no long description, only a link to the author's video channel. The command list, though, speaks for itself.
What each command does
- /menu opens the main menu, with Russian labels.
- /search finds groups by name.
- /human finds users by name.
- /news shows project news and the blog.
- /support connects you with support.
- /start shows a greeting and a hint.
The bot lists around 73 thousand users, but roughly four hundred use it in a given month. That makes it a long-known service rather than a rising hit.
Getting better results
Name search works best with a distinctive word rather than a generic phrase. Instead of "Moscow chat", try a district or a topic.
- Run /search.
- Type one or two keywords.
- If there are too many results, add a refinement.
- Check that you found the right group by its description and member count.
Names get copied, so popular groups often have lookalikes. Before joining, look at who the admins are and how long the chat has existed.
People search is a delicate topic
The /human command looks up users by name. That helps when you want to find an acquaintance or check whether someone is impersonating another person. But any people search has a flip side. ⚠️
- Do not use it to stalk. Harassing a person can be illegal.
- Do not republish what you find. Other people's contacts should not be spread without consent.
- Do not pay for "lookups". Offers to reveal personal data for money are often scams.
If you want to be harder to find, open Telegram's privacy settings and limit who can see your number and who can add you to groups.
Links and safety
Groups found through a third-party search are not vetted by the bot's moderators. Some contain ads, phishing and "giveaways".
Do not follow suspicious links inside chats, and do not enter wallet details or SMS codes. If a group immediately asks you to install something, leave. 🛡️
News and support
/news lets you read the project's blog, and /support lets you contact the developers if the bot is silent or search throws errors. The author's external contacts are listed in the bot's profile.
