About this App
You run a channel or build a bot, and next to it sit dozens of copies with similar names. How does a reader know which one is real?
Telegram has a verification badge for that, and you can apply for it through Verify Bot. It is a bot for verifying channels, public groups and other bots.
The bot's description says exactly that: it helps verify a channel, a public group or a bot.
Three commands, three scenarios
- /start. Request verification.
- /unverify. Remove verification.
- /becomeverifier. Apply for verifier status.
The first command is for owners of channels, groups and bots. The third is for organizations that want to vouch for others. An ordinary reader usually needs only the badge, not the bot. ✅
What to prepare before applying
So your request does not stall, gather everything first:
- A public address. The channel, group or bot needs a public username.
- Proof of identity or organization. An official site, pages on other networks, press mentions.
- A consistent look. The name, avatar and description should match what you use elsewhere.
- Live activity. A channel that has not been updated for a long time looks weaker.
How to apply
Open the bot, press /start and answer the questions: what you are verifying, what its address is, what supporting links you have. A team reviews the request, so the answer does not come instantly.
If you get a refusal, study the reason, fix the weak spots and apply again. Sending request after request will not help. ⏳
The badge is not for sale 🚫
Scammers circle around verification. They write in private messages, promise to "buy you a checkmark in a couple of days" or "speed up the review" and ask for prepayment.
- Do not pay middlemen. The official request goes through the bot, not through an acquaintance who "works there".
- Do not hand over access. A request for admin rights or a login code is almost always a trap.
- Do not follow links from private messages. Fake bots copy the name and design.
- Check the bot name. There is one official bot, and the rest are fakes.
What the badge tells a reader
For a subscriber the badge says: this page has a confirmed owner. It is no rating of the channel's quality and no guarantee that what it says is true. It confirms authenticity only.
So read verified channels critically too, especially when they promise easy earnings or quick investments. 🔍
When you need /unverify
If a channel changed owner, changed its topic or you decided to give up the badge, use /unverify. That way you do not mislead readers.
Do not sell or hand over a verified account: the new owner would get trust that you earned.
Why become a verifier
The /becomeverifier command is for organizations: an application for verifier status is submitted through the bot. The side that reviews the request decides if you meet the conditions, so success cannot be promised in advance. 🏢
