About this App
Work asks you to confirm your login to a corporate system with a second factor, and you would rather not install another app full of codes. БИТ.Аутентификатор lets you confirm logins through Telegram: the bot sends a request and you answer in the chat. 🔐
The bot belongs to a two-factor authentication ecosystem released by the company Первый Бит. It has around 137 thousand users.
It is not a code generator
A common mix-up: the bot does not replace an app with one-time codes for personal accounts. It acts as a confirmation channel for a system your organization deployed.
The administrator turns on Telegram login, and you link your account to your user record. After that, every sign-in attempt makes the bot send you a confirmation request.
The system behind the bot
Первый Бит released БИТ.Аутентификатор in November 2023 as a two-factor protection system for business. It is deployed on the company's own servers.
- Where it protects: websites, web apps, Linux and Windows environments, VPNs.
- Protocols: RADIUS, gRPC and LDAP.
- Data: the system does not process or store logins, passwords or other confidential details.
- Registry: since October 2024 the system has been in the Russian software registry.
Other ways to confirm
Telegram is only one option. An organization picks the confirmation methods for its staff: for example a phone call, a mobile app or another messenger.
So if your administrator did not enable Telegram, the bot will not help you. Ask support which method is set up for you.
How to connect
- Ask your IT administrator if Telegram login is enabled.
- Open the bot and follow the instructions from the email or internal policy.
- Confirm the account link.
- Next time you sign in, press the confirm button in the chat with the bot.
If the bot sends a confirmation request and you did not try to sign in, decline it and tell your security team. It may mean someone learned your password. ⚠️
Why a second factor matters
Passwords leak, get reused and get guessed. A second factor means one stolen password is not enough: the attacker also needs your phone.
But messenger confirmation needs attention too. Never press "confirm" on a request you did not start, and never forward codes from the bot to other people, colleagues included. 💡
If the bot does not respond
Check that you have not muted Telegram notifications from this chat. Make sure the account is linked and the access has not expired. If that fails, contact your organization's support: they can reset the link and issue fresh instructions.
One more point: connect the bot only following your organization's instructions. Fake bots that ask you to "verify your account" and type a password are a common way to steal access. A real confirmation system never asks for your password.
