About this App
A familiar situation: you need ten kilometers, and you are tired of the same park path. Planning a route on a map is tedious, and guessing the distance by eye rarely works. RunX does it for you. 🏃
It is a Telegram mini app that builds running routes through a city. According to its description, the route adapts to the city, your pace and your preferences.
A route built around how you run
You choose a distance and set filters, and the app forms a path. It takes distance, surroundings and rhythm into account: quiet parks or city loops with a thought-out line.
According to the project's website, the generator is free, works in Telegram and in a browser, and needs no registration. It builds circular routes, so you finish where you started.
Why a loop is handy
A loop removes the main headache: you do not decide where to turn back, and you do not need a ride home from the finish. You start at your door and end there.
- Exact distance. You do not have to pad the kilometers on the last blocks.
- New streets. You can try different loops without repeating yourself.
- Travel. On a business trip or holiday a route in an unfamiliar city takes a couple of minutes to build.
Heading out on a route
- Open the app with /start.
- Set the city and the starting point.
- Choose a distance and filters, such as parks or quiet streets.
- Look at the route on the map and judge the surface and lighting.
- Go. Watch the road, not the screen.
Check the route with your own eyes
Any automatic route should be compared with reality. Maps go out of date: somewhere there is construction, somewhere a crossing is closed, somewhere there is no sidewalk.
On the first run, walk the unclear stretches. This matters most in the evening: look at the lighting and how many people are around.
If the path includes a road with no sidewalk, skip that piece. Speed and a personal best are not worth the risk.
A runner's safety
- Darkness. Reflective gear and a headlamp raise your visibility noticeably.
- Headphones. One earbud or low volume lets you hear traffic.
- Location. Share a route only with people you trust, and do not post a start point by your home publicly.
- Water and weather. Carry water on long runs and avoid midday heat in summer.
Choosing a distance
A beginner is better off with a short loop that can be run without stopping. Add distance gradually, about ten percent a week.
For recovery, alternate easy and harder days. If your joints start to hurt, stop rather than push through: an injury costs more than a missed workout.
Pace and surface
Asphalt is harder on joints than dirt and park paths. If you run a lot, mix surfaces. Park filters help find a softer path.
For people who run in the city and are tired of the same loops, and for beginners who find kilometers hard to estimate. It does not replace a training plan: for race preparation, think about load separately.
