About this App
A group grows, and spam, flooding and repeated "where are the rules?" questions grow with it. A human moderator cannot sit in the chat around the clock, so part of the routine can go to a bot. That is what Natalie is for. 🛡️
The bot description says it plainly: add me to your group and I will handle administrative tasks. The /help command shows everything it can do.
What the command menu shows
The bot has seven commands, and they reveal how it is built:
- /start says hello and launches the bot.
- /help opens the menu of available commands.
- /helpconnect explains the commands for managing a group from a private chat.
- /settings shows report settings.
- /connection keeps the history of connected chats.
- /afk marks you as away from the keyboard.
- /donate leads to supporting the developer.
The most interesting part is the connection feature: you can manage a group from a private conversation without cluttering the main chat with service commands. 🔧
Managing from private messages
If you administer several chats, switching between them is awkward. Connecting lets you pick a group and edit its settings in a dialog with the bot. The connection history helps you jump back to the right chat.
The main chat stays clean, and members do not see how you configure restrictions.
Away mode
The /afk command marks you as temporarily unavailable. When someone mentions you in the group, the bot says you stepped away. It is a small thing, but in busy chats it saves nerves for anyone waiting on a reply. 💤
Connecting Natalie to your group
- Open the bot profile and add it to your group.
- Make the bot an administrator, otherwise it cannot delete messages or restrict members.
- Grant only the rights you need. If you do not plan to ban people, leave that off.
- Send /help and see which functions are available.
- Test the settings on a trial group before applying them to the main one.
What a moderation bot should do
If you compare group bots, run down a checklist: welcome messages, rules, word filters, flood limits, warnings and bans, an action log. Natalie's own /help shows which of these it covers. 📋
Automation makes mistakes. Always leave members a way to reach a live admin, so that a wrongly issued ban can be reversed quickly.
Rights and safety
An admin bot receives serious powers. Grant the minimum, do not add look-alike copies with similar names and check the username before you invite one. ⚠️
If a bot asks for rights to invite users or manage the chat and you do not understand why, pause the setup. It is also sensible to review the group's admin list from time to time.
Support and updates
The project has a support chat and a news channel, both listed in the bot profile. You can ask questions there and follow changes. If the bot helps you, /donate shows how to support its author. 💬
