Headache clinic: events for doctors

Headache is a constant visitor in a neurologist's office, yet systematic training on it is often thin at medical school. The Mini App of the University Headache Clinic gathers educational events for doctors in one place. 🩺

The clinic has run such events since 2013. Here you can see what is planned and pick a format that matches your level.

The big annual conference

The main event is the Treatment of Headache conference. According to the clinic, it has drawn about 450 participants from across Russia in recent years.

It is aimed at neurologists, general practitioners, psychiatrists and other specialists who deal with headache diagnosis and treatment. Topics usually cover pain mechanisms, current therapy schemes, secondary headaches and childhood cases.

Small programs for hands on practice

If you want to build skills rather than listen to talks, the smaller formats fit:

• Clinical skills master classes. Patient intake and complex case review.
• Two day courses for young doctors. A structured start for those who recently began independent work.
• Practical skills school. In person headache classes, including a separate day on children and teenagers.
• Advanced botulinum therapy course. For neurologists who already use the method and want to review errors and adverse effects.

The schedule also includes traveling workshops in other cities, so colleagues do not have to come to Moscow.

Lectures for patients too

The clinic gives lectures for patients as well. That helps if you want to understand your own situation, but a lecture does not replace an appointment. For a sudden severe headache, speech trouble, weakness in an arm or leg, or fever with a stiff neck, call emergency services at once. 🚑

How to choose a program

1. Define your goal: a general overview, a skill drill or a narrow procedure.
2. Check who the event is for: beginners or experienced doctors.
3. Confirm the format: in person, online or mixed.
4. Check the date and registration terms on the event page.
5. Ask the organizers if continuing education credits are awarded, in case you need them.

Do not expect one course to change your whole practice. Apply the skill on patients and return to the questions that raised doubts. 📚

Why headache is such a hard topic

The complaint is one, the causes are dozens: from migraine and tension type to secondary conditions. Diagnostic mistakes cost both the patient and the doctor.

That is why specialized programs that discuss clinical cases and typical traps are valued over a general overview. Practice on mannequins and with patients, as in the botulinum therapy course, gives what a recorded lecture cannot.

Before you register

Event schedules change, so rely on the current cards inside the app and on the organizer's page. Participation terms, cost and seats for in person courses should be confirmed at registration.

If you are a patient and not a doctor, the app will not diagnose you or choose treatment. That needs an in person consultation with a specialist.
