About this App
The chat grows, and the chaos grows with it: flooding, the same questions about rules, arguers you have to escort out by hand. Group Butler takes this routine over. 🧹
It is an admin bot for groups. Its description promises rules, anti-flood, a group description, custom triggers and much more. Commands appear once you add the bot to a group.
What the bot does
The main functions are kicking and banning troublemakers, chat rules, a group description, welcome messages and flood protection.
The project code is open, written in Lua and distributed under the GPL license. You can check it yourself, and programmers can study how the bot works.
Anti-flood without manual work
Anti-flood makes sure nobody buries the chat in messages. The bot can warn, and when the warning limit is reached it punishes the offender.
You can choose which content types to react to: images, videos, GIFs, stickers, forwards or plain text. That lets you limit exactly what bothers the chat. 🚫
Setup in five steps
- Add the bot to your group.
- Make it an admin, otherwise it cannot delete messages or ban.
- Open a private chat with the bot and choose group settings.
- Turn on anti-flood and tick the content types you need.
- Set the rules and a greeting, then check everything with a test message.
The /help command works only in a private chat with the bot. In a group it does not answer.
Triggers and greetings
Triggers are custom commands for your chat. For example, someone writes a word and the bot answers with a prepared text: a rules reminder, a schedule, an answer to a frequent question.
The greeting for newcomers can be text, a GIF or a sticker. A short, friendly welcome beats a long lecture. 👋
What to watch for
- Bot permissions: give only what is needed.
- Updates: the code has not changed in a long time, so test the bot before using it in an important chat.
- Soft measures: start with warnings and keep bans for repeat offenders.
- Transparency: tell members the rules so punishments do not look random.
How not to turn a chat into barracks
An overly strict anti-flood scares off lively talk. If people like replying to each other in short messages, soften the limits. ⚖️
From time to time check how many violations the bot records and adjust settings to the real life of your community.
Who it suits
Group chats with hundreds of members where moderators cannot keep up with the flow. Also small communities where you want to set rules once and forget them.
If you need complex moderation with reports and paid features, study the bot's abilities more closely before relying on it fully. ✅
