About this App
You have studied English for years, and "affect" and "effect" still trip you up. English Tips&Tools gathers what is normally scattered across a dozen sites: grammar, phrasal verbs, idioms, dictionaries, and audio, all in one bot. 📖
The project also runs a channel of the same name with daily portions of words, grammar, and phrases. The bot is its convenient menu, with materials sorted into sections.
What sits in the bot menu
There are many sections, and that is the main value. You do not scroll a feed to find a rule: open the topic and read.
- Grammar. Rules and examples.
- Confusable Words. Pairs that are easy to mix up.
- Phrasal Verbs. Verbs with prepositions that give everybody trouble.
- Idioms and expressions. Set phrases you cannot translate word for word.
- Irregular verbs, homonyms, synonyms. Tables and lists for quick checks.
- Dictionary and Thesaurus, English roots, Phonetics, Vocabulary. Dictionaries, word roots, pronunciation.
- Books, Magazines, Audio Files. Material for reading and listening.
The interface is in English, so a level below the basics may feel hard. For anyone who already reads simple texts, though, that is a plus: you study inside the language.
Why look-alike words need side-by-side study
The brain blends words that sound or mean something similar. Cramming does not help, but comparison does: two words, two examples, and one picture.
The confusable words section follows that idea. Read it one pair at a time and write your own sentences right away. ✍️
A ten-minute daily plan
- Open the bot with /start.
- Choose one section for a week, such as phrasal verbs.
- Read three to five examples, no more.
- Write two sentences of your own with the new words.
- At the end of the week, reread your notes and see what stuck.
A narrow focus beats "everything at once." When a topic is done, move to the next one.
Phrasal verbs and idioms: where learners stumble
Phrasal verbs such as "look up" or "give in" cannot be worked out from the meanings of the words. You have to memorize them whole, ideally in ready-made phrases from real life.
Idioms work the same way: do not translate them literally. Memorize an expression together with the situation in which people say it. 🗣️
What the bot will not replace
It is a reference and a source of materials, not a course that checks homework. It will not correct mistakes in your speech or build a personal plan.
Pair it with practice: a speaking club, messaging, films with English subtitles. That is how material from a section turns into a skill.
Who it suits
People who know the basics and want to tighten grammar and vocabulary. Teachers who need examples for lessons. Students preparing for exams.
If you need English from scratch, begin with a basic course and add the reference later. 🎓
