About this App

The portfolio is empty, yet job posts ask for experience. No clients, no feedback, and no clue if your work is any good. Detepr Design Workout offers short tasks that fit into one evening, with feedback from the people who hire designers. 🍊

Each workout is sized for two to four hours. You get a brief, make a layout and send it to the bot.

Entries without names

The key feature of the format is that all entries are anonymous. The jury does not know who the author is and judges the result alone.

For beginners it is a chance to hear an honest opinion without discounts for a name and without the weight of reputation. For veterans it helps too: you can test yourself where credentials do not matter.

Who judges

According to the bot's description, entries are reviewed by real art directors from large IT companies. These are people who decide every day whose layout works and whose does not.

Their view differs from the opinion of friends or followers. An art director sees how a solution will behave in a product and whether the designer can carry an idea through to a tidy delivery.

What a participant gets

  • Ratings and comments. On your work and on other entries.
  • Access to all results. You can compare your piece with the rest and see why some solutions scored higher.
  • A chance to fix mistakes. You can send a revised version, and it will be rated too.
  • A chance to be noticed. More on that below.

When the jury likes your work

If a jury member particularly likes an entry, they can ask the bot to write to the anonymous author. The reason varies: to get acquainted, to invite you to an internship or to offer a job.

In other words the bot acts as a bridge between an author and an employer. Your name is revealed only if you answer the message yourself.

Getting the most out of a task

  1. Read the brief once in full and write down the constraints.
  2. Set a timer for the allotted time and stay within it. Meeting a deadline is part of the profession.
  3. Before sending, look at your work on a small screen and from a distance. Weak spots show at once.
  4. After the ratings, go through the remarks point by point and make a revised version.

What not to expect

A workout rating is the view of a few people on one layout. It is a valuable guide, not a verdict. Different art directors feel differently about style and bold choices.

A job or internship offer is possible but never promised. Treat workouts as training and a source of feedback, and count any contact as a pleasant bonus.

Who it suits

Beginner designers who need portfolio pieces and feedback. Students looking for a first internship. Product designers who want to test themselves on a fresh task.

Ask format questions to the contact person named in the bot's profile. See the bot itself for participation terms and the schedule of new workouts.
