About this App
Send a friend some crypto right in chat, tip the author of a helpful message or run a coin giveaway in a group. BeamPay Wallet does this with Beam, one of the older privacy cryptocurrencies. 💳
It is a third-party project: Beam's official site lists it in its 2025 roadmap as a third-party Telegram wallet. The bot has few active users, around 80 a month.
What Beam is
Beam is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency whose mainnet launched on January 3, 2019. It runs on the Mimblewimble and Lelantus protocols: amounts and participants are hidden by default, and transactions are routed through Dandelion++ to make their origin harder to trace.
- Mimblewimble. A protocol where the blockchain stores no plain addresses or amounts.
- Lelantus. Enables one-sided payments without the recipient being online at the same time.
- Wrapped version. A WBEAM token exists on Ethereum with a two-way bridge.
Wallet commands
- /deposit gives a Beam deposit address.
- /balance shows your balance.
- /withdraw sends coins to an external wallet.
- /tip tips a message you reply to, with an asset choice and optional comment.
- /envelope creates a red envelope giveaway in chat: random, equal or dynamic shares. 🧧
- /explorer links the block explorer, /faq answers common Beam questions, /support reaches support, /report flags a user.
A key point about bot wallets
Chat tips are fast because coins sit with the bot, not with you. That is a custodial setup: the service operator holds the keys. ⚠️
- Keep only small change in the bot for tips and giveaways.
- Store larger amounts in Beam's official desktop, mobile or browser wallet, where you hold the keys.
- Test a small withdrawal before trusting the bot with more.
- Never type your wallet seed phrase into any bot.
Running a group giveaway
Top up a small amount with /deposit, create an envelope with /envelope and pick the type (random shares add excitement, equal ones feel fairer), then announce it so members can claim their part.
Price and exchanges
Beam trades on mid-tier exchanges and is absent from the largest ones. Privacy coins often face restrictions, with some exchanges avoiding them for regulatory reasons. Beam's price is quite volatile, so do not buy it just to tip in chats.
Who it suits
Beam community members who want to send coins to each other in Telegram, chat admins who enjoy red envelope giveaways, and anyone curious about privacy coins who wants to try Beam with small amounts. 🔐
