Moderator Bot Against Spam

You publish a post, and a minute later there are ten comments under it about easy money and "private channels". Cleaning that up by hand gets old fast, especially as your channel grows. 🧹

Moderator Bot targets exactly this problem: it blocks spammers in comments. According to its profile, you just add it to your chat and it takes it from there.

Setup in three minutes

The connection routine is the same for most bots of this kind. It usually goes like this:

1. Open the bot and press /start.
2. Add it to the discussion chat linked to your channel, or to a regular group.
3. Make it an admin with rights to delete messages and ban members.
4. Test it from a spare account by posting a typical advert in the chat.

Which permissions it needs and why

To remove other people's messages and ban offenders, a bot needs admin rights. That is normal for any moderator, but the responsibility is real too.

• Delete messages. Without this, a bot can notice spam but cannot remove it.
• Ban members. Needed so a spammer does not come back with the same account.
• Nothing more. It does not need rights to add admins, change the chat info or manage calls, so leave those off.

Where comment spam comes from

Spammers post under popular channels because many people read them there. Typical content: dubious money-making ads, invitations to other chats, links to private channels, loan offers and phishing links.

Most of it comes from fresh accounts with stock profile photos and similar names. An automatic bot reacts faster than a human who opens the chat every few hours. 🚫

What else helps against spam

One bot does not replace Telegram's own settings. Turn these on alongside it:

• Slow mode. Limits how often one person can post.
• No links or forwards for new members.
• Entry check. If a bot or a setting asks new members to press a button, spam accounts usually drop out.
• Several living moderators. A bot cannot replace a person in disputed cases.

What not to expect

Every anti-spam tool makes mistakes sometimes. It may delete a normal message or miss a carefully written ad. For the first days, review the admin log in the chat settings and unban members by hand if needed.

Do not hand over extra access and never enter passwords. If a bot asks for an SMS code or card details to "activate protection", that is a scam sign. ✅

Who needs it

Owners of channels with open comments, admins of big groups, and anyone who cannot watch the chat at night. A small private chat of friends does not need it: the regular settings are enough.
