About this App
Someone in the group chat says "let me check," and suddenly three people are googling while a fourth posts a link that has nothing to do with the topic. Perplexity inside Telegram cuts that circus short. You ask the bot a question, it searches the web, and it answers based on what it found. 🔍
This is the official Perplexity bot, announced in April 2025. You can message it directly or bring it into a group.
One question, one sourced answer
A typical chatbot answers from memory and sometimes gets things confidently wrong. Perplexity works differently: it searches the web first, then writes an answer built from the pages it found. Sources come with the answer, so a disputed fact takes a minute to verify.
Write the way you would ask a person: "How does a fixed-rate mortgage differ from a variable one?" or "What changed in the latest Python release?" Follow-up questions continue the same conversation.
What is inside
- Web-backed answers. Good for news, quick references and comparing options.
- Image generation. The /generate command creates a picture from your description.
- Photo editing. The bot description mentions editing pictures of friends and family.
- Deeper search. The /pro command switches on an extended search mode for tricky topics.
- Group chats. Add the bot to a group and ask questions together.
Six commands, no manual
The list is short. /start launches the bot, /menu lists commands, /help shows the help screen. The most useful of the housekeeping ones is /newchat.
It wipes the slate clean. The bot remembers context, so a pasta recipe request after an hour of loan talk may come back strange. Switching topics? Start with /newchat.
Bringing it into a group
- Add the bot through the group member settings.
- Mention it in a message that holds your question.
- Discuss the answer together. Check disputed points against the listed sources.
Among friends it works best as a fact checker for dates, figures and quotes. Nobody has to dig through browser tabs.
Where to be careful
An AI can be wrong even with sources attached. The page it relies on may be outdated or unreliable. For medical, legal or financial decisions, treat the answer as a starting point and confirm with a professional.
Do not send the bot passwords, card details, ID numbers or other people's private information. Whatever you type into the dialogue goes to the service for processing.
Who it suits
- Students who need to understand a topic fast and find the original source.
- People who work with information: journalists, marketers, analysts.
- Groups of friends who argue about facts every other day.
For a single quick question you do not need another app. It already lives in your messenger. 👍
