You step outside without an umbrella, and twenty minutes later there is a dark cloud over Valencia. It happens all the time in Spain. El Tiempo (AEMET) answers the question "what is the weather doing" right inside Telegram, with no extra websites or apps. ☔
You type the name of your town and the bot sends the forecast. It covers Spain only, and the profile says so openly.
Today, tomorrow, the day after
The core of the bot is three commands that cover most everyday questions:
- /hoy shows the weather for today.
- /manana gives the forecast for tomorrow.
- /pasado looks at the day after tomorrow.
Three days ahead is enough to decide whether to drive to the coast on the weekend, whether to pack a jacket for Madrid, and whether Saturday is a good day for a picnic. 🌤
Save it once, tap it every morning
If you check the same place every day, you should not have to type it again. The /favorito command shows the forecast for your saved location. The place itself is set with the word fav followed by the name of your town.
This is the most convenient mode for people who live in one city and work in another. One command in the morning is all it takes.
Notifications instead of checking
Through /notificaciones you set up messages, so the weather arrives by itself and you do not need to open the chat. That helps before the commute, before a trip, or before walking the dog. 🔔
The /ajustes command lists the settings you can change, and /ayuda prints a help message with the list of commands. The interface is in Spanish, but the commands are short and easy to guess without a dictionary.
What AEMET in the name means
AEMET is the Spanish state meteorological agency. It publishes forecasts and warnings about dangerous weather, and the name of the bot points to that service.
If you need official warnings about heat, storms or heavy rain, check the agency's own website as well. In an emergency, do not rely on a single source.
For an everyday question like "do I need a jacket" the bot is enough. For bigger decisions such as a mountain hike, a boat trip or a long drive in storm season, compare several forecasts. ⚠️
Who will find it useful
- People living in Spain. A quick weather check without ads or extra screens.
- Tourists. On holiday, save your resort town as the favorite and check the sky over breakfast.
- Newcomers. It helps you get used to the local climate: summers in the south are hot, and the north of the country is noticeably cooler and wetter.
- Spanish learners. The commands and replies are good daily practice, since words like hoy, mañana and tiempo come up all the time.
Up and running in a minute
- Open the bot and press Start.
- Enter your town in Spain.
- Send /hoy to see today's forecast.
- Save the town as your favorite so you can use /favorito from then on.
- If you like, turn on notifications with /notificaciones.
You can also call the bot from other chats by typing its name and a query. That is handy when you want to show a friend the weather for the day you plan to meet. 🌍
Worth knowing before you rely on it
A forecast is still a forecast. The further away the day, the higher the chance of error, and in the mountains or on the coast the weather can change within a few hours.
If your town does not show up, try spelling it differently: with the article, in the local language, or with the province. Place names in Spain often differ between Castilian, Catalan, Galician and Basque.
