Active App: Workouts in Telegram

Mini App • Health & Fitness

About this App

You ran ten kilometers this morning and want to show friends the route, not forward a screenshot from your watch app? Active App brings data from your devices straight into Telegram: activities, maps, routes, and health metrics. 🏃

From there you can share it in chats, channels, and stories. The app is in beta and works with Garmin Connect devices.

What Active App shows

The mini app connects with smart devices and gathers everything in one place. Instead of jumping between apps you open Telegram and look at what was recorded.

  • Activities. Workouts recorded by your watch or band.
  • Maps and routes. The track of a run, bike ride, or hike on a map.
  • Health data. Metrics your device collects.
  • GPX tracks. A route file can be downloaded and used in another route app.

The slogan on the project page fits in three words: track, share, repeat. 📍

Why share a workout in a messenger

Telegram has long been home to running clubs, cycling communities, and hiking chats. Routes there are usually discussed in words or sent as blurry screenshots.

A link to a proper track solves three things at once: friends see where you ran, can repeat the route, and compare their data with yours.

Getting started

  1. Open the mini app in Telegram.
  2. Connect the Garmin Connect account your watch syncs with.
  3. Wait for activities to load and choose the one you need.
  4. Open the map, look at the stats, and tap Share.
  5. To follow a route, download the GPX track and load it into a route app.

While the app is in beta, the interface and feature list may change. That is normal for new projects, but do not expect perfect stability. 🛠️

What GPX is and why you want it

GPX is a universal route file: it stores coordinate points, elevation, and time. Most GPS units, bike computers, and hiking apps understand it.

  • Repeating a route. Load the file onto a watch or GPS unit and follow the line.
  • Archive. Your best workouts sit in your files, not only in the cloud.
  • Planning. Someone else's track can be the base for your own trip.

Route privacy

A map with your track reveals more than you think. If a route starts and ends at home or work, anyone who sees the map knows where you live and when you are away.

Before sending a track to a public channel, consider a few things.

  • Hide the start and end. Trim the first and last few hundred meters in the file.
  • Share with a delay. Post after you return, not in real time.
  • Pick your audience. A private chat of friends is safer than an open channel.
  • Check health data. Heart rate and other metrics are not always for everyone to see.

Health data is sensitive. Share it only with people you trust. 🔒

Linking your account

To sync, the app needs access to your device account. Make sure you enter credentials only in the service's own sign-in window and that you understand which permissions you grant. If anything looks suspicious, stop.

For now the app works only with Garmin Connect, so owners of other watch brands will not benefit. Check the project channel for future plans. 📣
