Save Video Bot: Files by Link

bot • Downloaders

About this App

You found a clip or a track and your phone has no way to keep it. The site has no download button, the apps are full of ads, and browser extensions feel risky. Save Video Bot works from a plain link: send the address to the chat and get the file back.

A link, no install

The bot asks for nothing on your device. You paste a page address, it fetches the video, audio or file and sends it into the conversation. The result sits in your chat history and opens on any device where you use Telegram.

The author says it handles most websites and keeps a separate list of supported ones. Check that list first when a link does not work.

Commands that save time

What sets this bot apart from simple downloaders is processing before delivery. The commands are short and easy to remember.

  • /c cuts video or audio by time range, for example 1:40 to 2:04. You can give only a start time.
  • /a pulls the audio track out of a video.
  • /s takes a screenshot at an exact second, milliseconds included.
  • /t sends the video thumbnail as a photo.
  • /m tries to convert a video to mp4 for streaming.
  • /w downloads the worst quality when you want a small file.
  • /p downloads a playlist by range, such as items 5 to 8.
  • /z zips any file from a link.

There is also an experimental /f command that tries to get around speed throttling imposed by the source server. It does not always work, and the command description says so.

When the file is huge

Telegram limits how large a file a bot may send. Save Video Bot can archive files bigger than 2 GB. According to bot directories, files up to 150 MB are free, and larger ones need the paid plan. Pricing is shown by the /premium command.

If you only need part of a long video, cut that part with /c first. It is cheaper than pulling the whole thing. 🎬

Your first minute

  1. Open the bot and press Start.
  2. Look through /settings and adjust the behavior you want.
  3. Send a link to a video, a track or a file.
  4. Reply to the delivered media with a command to trim it or extract audio.

/help lists the hints and /privacy shows the privacy policy. Read it once, since you are handing the bot the addresses of the pages you visit.

Rights and safety

Saving something for yourself and republishing someone else's work are different matters. Many platforms forbid downloading in their terms, and copyright still applies. Stick to material you may keep: your own recordings, openly licensed files, clips shared with the author's permission.

Do not send links that contain personal access tokens, private document addresses or pages with paid content you are not allowed to pass on. 🔐

The author accepts voluntary donations if you like the project. Questions about the bot go to its support contact, which is listed in the profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Save Video Bot free to use?▼
Basic downloading is free for files up to 150 MB. Larger files, up to 2 GB, need the paid plan. The /premium command shows the current terms.
How do I cut a clip or extract audio?▼
Send the link first, then reply to the delivered file with /c and a time range such as 1:40-2:04. Use /a for the audio track. If you give only a start time, the bot cuts from there to the end.
What if a link will not download?▼
Check whether the site is on the supported list kept by the author. Try /f, which attempts to bypass speed throttling, or /w to fetch a lower quality. Private and login-only pages cannot be opened by the bot.
Is it legal to download videos from websites?▼
It depends on the source and your purpose. Saving material you have rights or permission for, for personal viewing, is usually fine. Republishing someone else's work is not, and many platforms prohibit saving in their terms.
