Writing a good questionnaire

The main rule: one question, one idea. If a question has two conditions, people answer one and forget the other.

• Shorter is better. After the tenth question the drop-off grows fast.
• Important first. If a person leaves halfway, the key data is already with you.
• Clear wording. Avoid jargon that only you know.
• Required and optional. Do not force answers to what you can do without.

People's data and responsibility

If you collect names, phone numbers or addresses, you are responsible for keeping them safe. Ask only what is necessary and say in advance why you need it.

Do not publish answers in open chats or pass them to third parties without consent. Many countries have personal data rules, and they are worth checking.
