About this App
Every night someone disappears. Every day the town looks for the guilty one. That is how the MAFIOS description opens: a mini app with classic Mafia inside Telegram. 🎭
The closing question is simple: whose side are you on? You will have to argue your answer with words, not fists.
A game where lying follows the rules
Mafia is a social game of deception and deduction. Players get secret roles: most are honest townsfolk, while a few quietly work for the mafia.
A round alternates two phases. At night the mafia picks a victim; by day everyone discusses who did it and votes. 🔪
- Night: secret actions the others do not see.
- Day: debate, accusations, defences and a vote.
- Winning: townsfolk win by finding every mafia member, and the mafia wins once it equals the rest in number.
Why play it inside Telegram
Mafia used to need a room full of people and a volunteer host. In a messenger the app takes over the host's job, and secret roles go to each player on their own screen.
That helps when friends live in different cities but still want an evening game together. 📱
News and chat live elsewhere
The project has its own news channel and a players' chat, and the MAFIOS description puts both up front. Updates and rules questions are easiest to follow there.
The chat also helps you find company for an evening when your friends are busy. 💬
Setting up a good match
Mafia depends heavily on the people at the table. A few habits make a match better.
- Agree on a time in advance so nobody drops out mid-game.
- Gather at least six or seven players, because small groups finish rounds too fast.
- Pick one voice or text chat where arguing feels natural.
- Decide whether screenshots are allowed before the game, not after.
Etiquette for professional liars
Lying in the game is fine; resenting a friend for it is not. Eliminated players should stay quiet, even with a glance or a private hint, or the point of the game is lost.
Do not take accusations personally: Mafia makes everyone a suspect, and that is part of the thrill. 🃏
One last note: the app has a small audience, about two hundred monthly active users. Finding random opponents at any hour may be hard, so bring your own friends.
