About this App
Your chat keeps growing, spam and quarrels multiply, and moderators are scarce? Iris | Moonlight Dyla belongs to the Iris family of bots: a group chat manager that takes on the routine 🌙.
The name is confusing, so a clarification: this is not a task planner. The bot works in groups and helps run them.
What Iris does in a chat
- Moderation. Commands to keep order in a group.
- Reputation. Members raise and lower each other's rating with commands like "+rep" and "-rep".
- Roleplay commands. One command makes random pairs, another shows active pairs 💞.
- Greetings. The bot welcomes newcomers, and the greeting history can be reset.
- Triggers. You set a condition and the bot performs an action automatically.
There is also an internal game currency, called "irises". Check the bot's help for details.
Why Iris has several bots
Telegram limits how often a bot can send messages, so one bot in a big chat hits those limits. That is why Iris has several twin bots with identical functions. They differ only in load.
You can swap one for another without losing data: marriages, relationships and chat settings are kept. If this bot feels overloaded, just install another from the family.
Setup in four steps
- Add the bot to your chat with the install button.
- Give it admin rights. Moderation will not work without them.
- Do not disable the rights the bot requested on install.
- Test with a simple command and set up triggers 🛠️.
Note: if another Iris was already in the chat, it leaves and only the new one works.
Where to get help
The bot's profile points to a support chat, the project channel and a channel with useful articles. They answer questions about installation and commands. Full command lists also exist in public articles online.
The family also has a paid option with premium threads that handles load better. For small chats it is usually not needed.
Good manners for an admin
Any moderator bot can make a mistake or punish someone innocent. Write the chat rules in advance and explain to members what leads to restrictions.
Give the bot only the rights it needs. An admin with extra powers is a risk if an account gets hacked or settings go wrong 🔐.
Reputation commands and roleplay amuse a chat, but watch the tone: pairing people off without their consent can turn into bullying. Test features in a small group, then turn them on in the main chat.
Where a new admin should start
First install the bot and simply watch for a couple of days how members react to reputation and greetings. Do not turn everything on at once: the chat has to get used to new rules.
Then add triggers for your frequent problems, such as repeating spam. A few precise rules beat a dozen vague ones 📋.
Once a month, review settings and remove whatever does not work or annoys people.
