About this App
You stepped away for two hours and the work chat has 300 new messages. Scrolling through all of it takes forever, and missing something important is worse. Gisty AI handles this: the bot reads the group conversation and returns a short digest, and it answers members' questions right in the chat. 📝
Gisty lives in groups and works by command. The project runs its own channel, and 24/7 support is available via /support.
Six kinds of summary
Commands differ in depth and scope, so pick what fits:
- /summarize_brief_50 gives a quick recap of the last 50 messages, enough to catch a lunchtime debate.
- /summarize_brief_300 condenses 300 messages when you missed half a day.
- /summarize_full_50 covers 50 messages without dropping details, handy when people discussed numbers or agreements.
- /summarize_full_300 does a detailed pass over 300 messages.
- /summarize_by_topic_50 sorts the last 50 messages by topic.
- /summarize_by_topic_300 does the same for 300, ideal for chats with three conversations running at once. 🗂️
Ask Gisty
Beyond summaries, the bot works as an AI assistant: members ask a question in the group and get an answer without switching apps. Ask it to explain a term from the discussion or draft an announcement.
Adding it to a group
- Start the bot with /start in a private chat.
- Add it to the group as a member.
- Make it an admin or make sure it can see all messages. By default, bots in groups only see commands, and summaries need access to the conversation.
- Run a summary command and get your digest. ✨
One detail: bots like this only see messages sent after they join. Older history from before it was added cannot be summarized.
Things for admins to consider
To summarize, the bot sends chat text to a language model for processing. Keep that in mind in chats with sensitive topics.
- Tell members an AI bot reading messages is active in the group.
- Avoid using it in chats with passwords, client personal data or trade secrets.
- Double-check facts. A summary can miss nuance or attribute words to the wrong person, especially in long threads. 🔍
Where Gisty shines
- Work chats where decisions get buried under jokes and stickers.
- Study groups where nobody can afford to miss a deadline or schedule change.
- Communities and clubs with hundreds of messages a day.
- Family chats juggling renovations, vacations and birthdays.
If the bot stops responding, check its permissions in the group and contact support via /support.
