About this App
You're configuring a bot, connecting notifications or writing to support, and they ask for your Telegram ID. The numeric account ID isn't shown in your profile, and finding it in the interface isn't easy. User Info Bot sorts it out fast: you send it a message and it answers with the number you need. 🔢
What you need to do
The bot describes its own principle: forward it a message and it sends back the ID of the user who wrote it. For your own number, send /start. The command description says exactly that: get ID.
- Open the bot and press Start. It shows your account details.
- To learn someone else's ID, forward their message. The bot replies with the author's details.
- Copy the number. You will need it where it is requested.
Why an ID matters
A username can be changed, but the numeric identifier stays with the account. That is why it is requested wherever precision matters.
- Setting up your own bots. Developers enter the admin ID so the bot listens only to that person.
- Notifications. Many services send alerts by ID rather than by name.
- Support. To confirm an account is really yours, they often ask for the number.
- Group management. Admins use IDs to find a specific person among members.
What the bot doesn't do
It shows what is already visible in Telegram: basic information about a user. It doesn't reveal a phone number, message history, location or hidden data, and you shouldn't expect it to. 🙅
If a user hides their forwarding info, you will only see limited details when you forward their message. That is a privacy setting, and it can't be bypassed.
Ethics and safety
Checking your own ID is safe. Collecting IDs of strangers in bulk is a matter of respect for other people's privacy. Use the tool for setup and administration, not for tracking.
Scammers who offer to "recover your account" often ask for the same number. The ID itself is not dangerous to share, but never give anyone an SMS code or password. 🛡️
If the bot stays silent
Make sure you are forwarding a message rather than copying its text. If the author hid their profile when forwarding, the bot answers with only what is available. Otherwise, try /start again.
For projects where you must know the exact ID, it also helps to open your privacy settings and see who can forward your messages.
