ChatFight: Who Talks the Most?

Bot • Group Chat Games

About this App

Every big chat has someone who writes more than anyone else. But who exactly, until you count? ChatFight counts for you: the bot keeps a tally of messages in your group and builds a ranking of the most active members. And a ranking, as everyone knows, wakes up a competitive streak. ⚡️

What this bot actually is

Despite the name, ChatFight is not about arguments or anonymous chatting. It is a message counter for groups with a leaderboard and prizes for the active. The name points to competition between chats and members.

You add the bot to a group and it starts keeping stats. Only groups where the bot is present are tracked.

What the bot does

  • Message counting. The bot counts how many messages each member wrote.
  • Leaderboards. You see at once who is the most active in the chat and who follows.
  • Profile. Anyone can check their own stats.
  • Prizes. An admin can reward the most active members.
  • Mini games. They include a fast-typing game mentioned in the project's news.

Bot commands

The command list in the profile is short: /start launches the bot, /buy lets you support the project with a donation, and /mygifts shows your gifts. In a group, ranking and profile commands also work, and their names depend on the bot's language.

News, outages and updates appear in the project's separate channel, linked in the profile.

What the bot keeps about you

According to the description of its statistics method, the bot does not track direct messages, channels, or the content of messages. Only counters and attribution to a member are stored.

That matters for a private chat: the bot sees activity but does not read your conversation to analyze text. Still, a group is a group, and members should be told that counting is going on.

Adding it to your group

  1. Find the official bot by its exact name: it has many clones with similar names.
  2. Add it to the group as a member.
  3. Send the ranking command and check that the bot answers.
  4. Explain to members how to view their profile and the leaderboard.
  5. If you want prizes, agree on the rules in advance and post them in a pinned message.

Pitfalls of rankings

A ranking by message count pushes people to flood. Someone who wants the top spot starts writing everything in sight, and the chat quality suffers. To prevent that, limit message frequency with group rules or set up anti-spam.

Treat the ranking as entertainment. If the winner gets a prize, announce how the winner is picked and how cheating is excluded. Then the contest stays fun instead of becoming a reason to quarrel. 🙂
