BruhhBot: Group Manager for Telegram

Bot • Moderation & Anti-Spam

About this App

Any group with a few hundred members eventually gets spammers, flooders and arguments that need cooling down. Doing it all by hand wears you out. BruhhBot takes over the routine: it bans, mutes, deletes messages and reminds people of the rules. The bot has more than 400 thousand users.

Its description is short, and it says the bot can do a lot. Send /start and /help to see how it works. The details are below.

What it does to troublemakers

  • /ban and /unban. Block a member and lift the block.
  • /kick. Remove someone without a permanent ban, so they can come back through an invite.
  • /mute and /unmute. A muted member stays in the group, but everything they post is deleted.
  • /banlist. A list of everyone banned in the chat.
  • /purge. Bulk deletion of messages starting from the one you replied to.

These commands work as a reply to the offender's message. 🔨

Order instead of chaos

Some commands are about running the group rather than punishing people.

  • /setrules and /rules. An admin writes the rules and any member can pull them up with a command.
  • /setflood. Sets a message limit so one person cannot flood the chat (forwarded messages count too).
  • /lock. Blocks a certain type of message, such as stickers or links, until you lift the restriction.
  • /pin. Pins a message, and the silent option does it without a notification.
  • /setname, /setabout, /setphoto. Change the group name, description and photo.

Notes you call up by hashtag

The /save command stores a message, photo or file under a hashtag. Later, someone only has to type that hashtag in the chat and the bot returns the saved item.

This is handy for questions newcomers ask every day: how to pay, where to download, whom to contact. Save the answer once and stop copying it. 📌

Small tools worth knowing

The /adminlist, /id, /stats, /time and /weather commands show the admin list, the ID of the group or a member, user details, the time and the weather for a place you name. /settings opens the options in a private chat with the bot, so the group stays clean.

There are also /promote and /demote, which give and remove moderator rights. Hand them out carefully. 🛡️

Setting it up without surprises

  1. Add the bot to your group and make it an admin with rights to delete messages and ban members.
  2. Add the helper bot mentioned in the description. Some functions will not work without it.
  3. Send /settings and configure the group in the private chat.
  4. Write the rules with /setrules and check them with /rules.
  5. Test /mute and /del on a spare account before using them on real members.

The bot has existed for years as an open source project, and its names and helper bots have changed along the way. If something does not respond, read the profile description and the updates channel. For an important group, keep a backup moderation plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does BruhhBot need admin rights?▼
Yes. To ban, delete and pin messages the bot needs the matching admin permissions. Grant only the ones you need and leave the rest off.
Why do some commands not work?▼
The bot description says a helper bot must be in the group too for everything to work properly. Add it and make it an admin. Also check that the main bot has permission to delete messages and ban members.
How is mute different from kick and ban?▼
Mute keeps the person in the group but deletes everything they write. Kick removes them, and they can return through a link. Ban blocks them until you run unban.
How do I save an answer to a common question?▼
Reply to the message with /save and give it a hashtag. After that any member can type the hashtag in the chat and the bot sends the saved item. You never have to retype the same answer.
