What Holiday Is Today Bot

Morning in a group chat, and someone asks: "What holiday is it today?" The What Holiday Is Today bot answers with one command, right in the conversation 🥳

It is a light entertainment tool for group chats: a reason for a joke, a greeting or a topic of conversation.

One command for the whole chat

Add the bot to a group and send /holiday. It shows the holiday for the current day, and everyone sees it at once.

No settings and no menus. Come, ask, get an answer.

A leaderboard of celebrators

The bot has a game side: rankings of who celebrates most. These commands do the work:

• /holiday. Shows the holiday of the day.
• /top. The top 10 celebrators in your chat.
• /global_top. The top 10 celebrators across all chats where the bot works.

It makes for a gentle contest: the more actively you celebrate, the higher you rank. The chat comes alive, and arguments about who loves holidays most are guaranteed 🎉

Ideas for groups

The holiday of the day works well as a daily ritual. Agree that one person runs /holiday in the morning and the others reply with a joke or a sticker.

For work chats a calm version fits: mention the holiday, congratulate colleagues, get back to work. In family groups it is a reason to remember a relative's birthday or an unusual memorable date.

Connecting it in a minute

1. Open the bot's profile and add it to the chat you need.
2. Send /holiday in the chat.
3. After a couple of days, check /top and see who leads.
4. If the bot stays silent, make sure it is not blocked and may post in the group.

What an admin should keep in mind

In a large group, do not overuse the commands: frequent bot replies clutter the feed. One or two requests a day are plenty 😌

Holidays can be national, professional or jokey, and not all of them suit every team. Choose a tone for your audience, especially in work and formal chats.

Some memorial dates relate to tragic events. If the day is one of those, skip cheerful emoji and stickers.

And do not expect an official reference from a bot like this. If you need the exact date of a day off under a labor calendar, check an official source.
