Themes Porter: Theme Converter

Found a gorgeous Telegram theme on your computer and want the same on your phone? Or the other way round: an Android look you like so much that you want it on a big screen. Themes Porter moves themes between platforms.

The bot has gathered about 480 thousand users, and its job is stated plainly: porting themes. 🎨

Which way the porting goes

The bot's description names two directions. First: from a Desktop theme to an Android theme. Second: from an Android theme to a Desktop theme.

It promises nothing for iPhone and iPad, so iOS owners have no use for it here.

Why themes do not move over directly

Telegram on desktop and on Android store appearance differently. Each has its own file format and its own set of color variables. A theme cannot simply be copied from one device to another: it will not open, or it will look different.

The bot recalculates colors and matches parameters between the two platforms. The project builds on open tools by developers, whose links appear in its description.

How to try it

1. Open the bot and press /help to see a short guide.
2. Send a theme file. You need a source theme for one platform.
3. Wait for the result. The bot returns a file for the other platform.
4. Open the file on your device and apply the theme in Telegram's appearance settings.

The bot has few commands, and that is fine: it does one thing.

What to expect from the result

• Colors will not match one hundred percent. The platforms have different interface elements, and some have no counterpart.
• Backgrounds and wallpapers. Images may need separate fitting to a phone screen size.
• Small fixes are common. Check text readability on both light and dark elements.
• Complex themes. The more special details a theme has, the higher the chance something will not carry over.

The bot's description points to a separate tool for creating themes from images, plus channels with ready-made collections for Android and Desktop. Names and addresses are right in the chat with the bot.

What to look for when choosing

A theme is more than looks. A dark background with soft contrast saves your eyes in the evening, while a loud accent gets tiring. Choose a look in which long conversations are comfortable to read.
