About this App
Blogs, news sites and webcomics publish on their own schedules, and checking a dozen of them by hand gets old fast. The RSS bot fixes that: you send a feed link and new posts arrive in Telegram on their own. 📰
It handles RSS and Atom feeds and checks them about every 5 minutes.
Subscribing in a minute
- Press Start and send /start.
- Send the bot the link to a site's RSS or Atom feed.
- Wait for the confirmation that you are subscribed.
- New posts begin to land as messages in the same chat.
To unsubscribe, send the same link again. Everything runs through plain messages, so there are no menus to configure.
Commands worth knowing
- /list. Shows all your subscriptions.
- /settings. Changes how messages are formatted.
- /stats. Shows your own statistics.
- /off. Deletes all subscriptions at once.
- /web. Gives you a login link for the web reader, where feeds are read in a browser.
- /other. Lists the remaining commands.
Once your feed count grows, /list and the web reader keep things from turning into a mess.
How many feeds fit
The bot is free. A single user gets up to 500 feeds, and more in some cases. That is plenty for most people, who usually end up with a couple of dozen blogs and news sections.
Posts and data live in a PostgreSQL database on a dedicated server, and the connection is capped at 100 Mbps. That suits a feed bot fine, though delays can happen at peak load. ⏱
Finding a site's feed
Plenty of sites hide their RSS link. Try adding an ending such as rss, feed or atom.xml to the site address. Most blogging engines have a feed switched on already. Some news portals offer separate feeds per section, and those are better than the general one because there is less noise.
A few sites offer no feed at all, and then the bot cannot help.
Why it goes quiet
The most common problem is a website throttling frequent requests and refusing to serve its feed to the bot. New posts then arrive late or not at all. The limit sits on the site's side, not on yours.
- Check the link. Open it in a browser: you should see a feed, not an ordinary page.
- Give it time. One polling cycle takes about 5 minutes.
- Ask the community. The project has a chat where such cases get sorted out.
Who it fits
Anyone who reads news and blogs and prefers not to depend on social media algorithms. A feed shows everything in publishing order, with nothing skipped. Telegram turns into a single reader. ✅
If you follow too many sources, create a separate chat only for feeds and mute it. Read when you have time.
