Psst: whisper bot for chats

Bot • Anonymous Chat

About this App

Need to tell one person something in a group chat without everyone else reading it? Psst does that inside Telegram: you write a whisper, and only the person it is meant for can open it. 🤫

The bot works in inline mode only. You do not have to add it to a group. Typing its name in the message field of any chat is enough.

How a whisper is sent

The flow is short: type the bot's name, then the recipient, then your text. A message with a button lands in the chat, and the contents are visible only to the intended person.

  1. In any chat, type the bot's name in the input field.
  2. Name the recipient and write your whisper.
  3. Pick the generated result from the suggestions and send it.
  4. The recipient taps the button and reads the message.

Full instructions appear after /start or /help, including the order of input.

Long whispers and media

The bot is not limited to short phrases. The project description mentions advanced whispers: long text and messages with media.

That helps when you need to pass along an order number or a screenshot without posting it for the whole room. The instructions are available in English and Russian.

When a whisper makes sense

  • Work chats. Share a staging password or an invoice number with a colleague without cluttering the shared feed.
  • Friend groups. A birthday surprise the birthday person must not see.
  • Communities. A private question to an admin when a direct message feels awkward.
  • Games. Secret roles and hints in role-playing games.

What to know about privacy

A whisper hides text from other chat members, but it is not end-to-end encryption. The message passes through the bot's server, so keep seed phrases and banking passwords out of it.

For truly sensitive material, use Telegram's secret chats. Psst is good for everyday discretion inside a group, not for defense against serious surveillance.

Open code, small team

The bot has a public repository with its source code. For a project like this that is a plus: any developer can study how messages are handled and run a personal copy.

The profile points to a small group of authors rather than a large company. Do not expect corporate support, but the tool stays light and free of extras.

Its audience counts tens of thousands of people a month, which is a healthy sign for a narrow one-purpose tool.

Small details worth remembering

If no suggestion shows up, check that the bot's name is typed correctly and that the recipient is a member of that chat. A whisper is tied to one person, so it needs the exact username.

Do not whisper to people outside the chat. The bot does not replace direct messages.
