About this App

A party, a road trip, a work call with nothing to do: everyone drops clip links in the chat, and playing them one by one is awkward. Playlist builds a shared playlist for a Telegram group, and everyone adds tracks on their own. 🎶

The bot calls itself your group's social video playlist. Add it to a chat, open the player on the device you want, and whatever members send plays on a web page.

One device plays, everyone controls

The idea is a split of roles. The device where you open the link plays the music: a laptop by the speakers, a phone in the car, or a TV with a browser.

Other group members just send videos and vote. Nobody shares a screen or passes a phone around. 📱

Set up in a couple of minutes

  1. Add the bot to a group. Any group chat with friends or coworkers will do.
  2. Open the link on the device that should play. The bot creates it in the group.
  3. Send a video to the chat. It joins the queue and plays on the page.

After that, members steer the queue with vote buttons so everyone stays happy.

Three commands are enough

The menu is short, and each command covers one step.

  • /pin. Creates a pinned message that is a handy place to start.
  • /qr. Shows an invite link in the player, to connect another device quickly.
  • /add. Adds content to the playlist.

Voting instead of arguments

Every shared playlist has someone who queues the same track ten times. Vote buttons settle it without a fight: like it, vote for it, tired of it, skip it.

The result reflects the taste of the whole crowd and not only whoever holds the phone. 🙂

Where it fits

Most often this kind of playlist is for meetups with friends, drives, shared dinners and offices where the whole team picks the background music.

It works for online meetings too: while people chat, the background plays from a single device. Agree beforehand who handles which music.

Things to know first

Playback needs a stable internet connection and an open player page. Close the tab and the music stops.

Music and videos belong to their creators, and the rules of the service the clips come from may limit playback. Public events and venues need a separate public performance license. The bot has about 165 thousand users, and news and feedback go through the channel listed in the profile. 💬

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start using Playlist?▼
Add the bot to a group chat, open the link on the device that should play the music, and send a video to the chat. It joins the queue and starts playing on the open page.
What commands does the bot have?▼
/pin creates a pinned message to start from, /qr shows an invite link in the player, and /add adds content to the playlist. Everything else is controlled with vote buttons.
Can I use it outside a group?▼
The bot is built for group chats: it is described as a social playlist for a group, where members decide together what plays. For solo listening an ordinary player is simpler.
Why did the music stop?▼
Usually the player tab was closed, the connection dropped or the device went to sleep. Open the link again and make sure power saving settings are not blocking the player.
