About this App
A file sits in Telegram, and you need to download it with a download manager or send it to someone without the messenger. Plain forwarding will not help. Get Public Link Bot turns a file into an ordinary external link that opens in a browser. 🔗
What the bot does
You send it a document of any size and it returns an external link to that file. According to the bot's description, you can download it with your favorite downloader, so you are not tied to Telegram itself.
If something does not work, the bot's help section has an FAQ covering common problems.
How to use it
- Open the bot and tap Start.
- Send the file as a document. Photos and videos are best sent uncompressed, as a file.
- Receive the link and open it in a browser or paste it into a download program.
- To share, send the link to a person, but remember that anyone who has it can open it.
When it helps
- A big file on a weak connection. A download manager can resume after a break, which the built-in download does not always do.
- Sharing outside Telegram. You can paste the link into an email or another messenger.
- Downloading to a computer. Sometimes opening a link in a browser is easier than fiddling with a client.
A command for the manager app
The bot has an /applogin command: it gives you a login token for the TgCloudManager app. There you can organize the files you sent to the bot, for example by sorting them into folders.
The token is a key to your files. Do not show it to anyone or post it in chats. 🔐
What to know about safety
A public link means the file is available to anyone who gets it. Do not upload passports, contracts, passwords or other personal documents. When in doubt, do not send it.
Links may stop working after a while, and a long download sometimes breaks off. Keep your own copy of important files. ⚠️
Popular bots attract lookalike channels and chats with the same name. Those are not the official bot, and you should not send them files. Check the exact name.
If you want your own version
People who can run servers sometimes deploy their own open source bots that do the same job. Then files pass only through your own infrastructure.
For everyday tasks a ready-made bot is enough, as long as you accept that the link is public. It is a fair trade of convenience for privacy.
Before sending, rename the file so that its name contains no personal data: the name is often visible in the link itself or at download time.
